Target audience and qualification
Drawing on many years of experience in translating into English, in teaching translation into English, in extended studies in grammar, and, most importantly, by student acclaim, I have put together this course to help advanced students improve the quality and quantity – Q&Q of their English, so that they can speak better and faster.
APPROACH
Several approaches will be used, including:
A) Conversation & Pronunciation
B) Grammar exercises & Writing
C) Translation exercises
a) Oral – Memory Drills
b) Written homework using grammar concepts given in class
c) Sight translations

Target audience and qualification
This course targets very advanced students who wish to take their into-English translation skills to another, more improved level, by focusing on basic grammatical principles that represent pitfalls in using correct syntax.

b) Written homework using grammar concepts given in class
c) Sight translations
Examples:
TOPIC: Verbs using THAT + subject in one language, but not in the other
USAGE: Certain verbs may take < THAT + SUBJECT > in Portuguese, whereas not in English, which takes + D.O. or other options. Some of these verbs in Portuguese may also be used with a direct object, but our concern is when they aren’t!
>>>PORTUGUESE:
>EVITAR QUE / IMPEDIR QUE
Ex.: Ela não conseguiu impedir que ele fosse
embora.
>>>ENGLISH:
>PREVENT or KEEP or STOP + D.O. FROM
Ex.: She couldn’t prevent him from leaving.
