Attention! You don’t need a teacher to teach you English!

A teacher can provide valuable feedback, guidance, accountability, routine, a place to practise, encouragement, highlight areas to focus on, a place to work on your limiting beliefs about your English…

A teacher can also work with you to help improve your grammar and vocabulary. But you don’t NEED the teacher to learn the language!

There are so many things you can do on your own to help work on your language; use authentic texts and graded readers and notice the language that’s new for you is one example!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again!

Everyone’s goals, lives, needs, personal circumstances, strengths, areas to develop, time constraints, family commitments, education histories, personalities are DIFFERENT.

There is no one person or method that is the key. Comparing your English to someone else is pointless because you don’t know where they started or their strengths or areas to develop.

What you need to work on is completely different to what someone else needs to work on.

Be clear in your own goals, what you need and what you don’t need. Sure, maybe take inspiration from people, but don’t let that voice in your head start comparing and putting yourself down!
