CARNIVAL 2024 🎉🎉🎉 Carnival has just started in Brazil. For Brazilians it´s the most popular festival celebration from the North to the South of my country. It is connected with Occidental Christian belief, and happens every year forty days before Easter. The tradition of Carnival was brought to Brazil by Portuguese immigrants between 16th and 17th centuries as a popular play for mocking people to have fun in the streets. Throughout the years it has been highly influenced by African culture in terms of music, dance, costumes, performance, and group competitions. In the 20t century, Brazilians introduced the “Samba” style as the official music and dance of Carnival. Since then, CARNIVAL has been considered the most popular festival in Brazil. Yes…strangers will be living in our homes and will possess everything we have achieved. All our properties will belong to unknown people who may not have even been born yet. Our descendants will no longer remember us. How many of us truly knew our great-grandparents?
When we pass away, we will be remembered for a few years, and eventually, we will become nothing more than a memorable picture frame on someone's shelf. As time goes on, even that memory will fade away.
Perhaps, if we would have the chance to be aware of that, we would realize the foolishness of our dreams to accumulate so many material possessions.
Oh, if only we could contemplate this after our passing, we would undoubtedly reevaluate our priorities and question ourselves whether accumulating things was truly worthwhile, rather than savoring what is genuinely essential in life.
Probably, we would engage our life's journey more astutely and make many things differently. We would embark on the trips we had never took, embrace and cherish our children and loved ones more passionately, devote more time to our families and friends, provide more assistance to those in need, and express our love more frequently.
Let´s ponder these thoughts while we still have the opportunity. Elenir - June 2023.

❤ CHRISTMAS IS COMING❤
Christmas is just around the corner. At Christmas, Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus; considering the 25th of December one of the most important celebrations of the year. However, there are countries that have different traditions according to their culture.
In Brazil, the whole preparation for Christmas usually starts one month before, and it involves a lot of arrangements, such as; make place in the living room to put up a Christmas tree, display a beautiful garland in front of the main door, put up a ‘nativity scene’, usually close to the Christmas tree, decorate all rooms with traditional ornaments, as well as, fences in the front-yard with colorful lights, prepare typical food, play traditional Christmas songs during the Holy Season, and so on… Everything turns in a delightful, fulfilling and magical atmosphere at this time of the year.
In addition, people step out with a list of items in their hands for buying presents to their relatives and friends. The department stores and Shopping malls usually have to extend overtime their services as they become incredibly crowded. Not to mention those women who spend hours and hours at the beauty salon trying to get a different hair style and some more uplifts in their beauty.
Apart from that, in my culture people don´t forget the real meaning of Christmas. According to our tradition, the true meaning of Christmas is “love”. God in an act of unconditional love gave us His only son Jesus to proclaim our salvation. Thus, the best gift we can give in return to Jesus at Christmas time is to rethink our values, feelings and actions. We cannot forget to spread love, compassion, empathy, generosity, at this time of the year. This is what Jesus taught us during His passage in this world. Being grateful for what we have and help those who are not as much fortunate as we are, is a huge act of love. Taking our precious time to others, paying a visit, making a phone call, sending a Christmas card, giving a warm hug, etc…can be the most valuable gift someone needs and expects to get in this Christmas time. Let´s think of that!
I wish all people around the world could have a meaningful and blissful Christmas among those who they love and care!🎅🎄❤
