Our Grade 11 and 12 IB Diploma students stepped out of the classroom for an immersive, interdisciplinary science project at PUC-Rio.
Through an interdisciplinary circuit along the Rainha River that runs through the university campus, they explored: 🏛️ Architecture: Landscapes as social constructs 🐟 Biology: Aquatic Bioindicators 🌊 Physics: Hydrodynamics 🧪 Chemistry & Geography: Microplastics and river revitalization
It was a fantastic opportunity to see how different disciplines work together to solve complex environmental issues. A huge thank you to the team at PUC-Rio for this collaboration!

EARJ hosted its first inter-school music festival, welcoming students from Our Lady of Mercy (OLM) and The British School (TBS) to perform alongside our own bands.
The EARJ Open Music Festival is a student-led initiative, organized by student Santiago H. with members of the Music Club as part of a CAS Project, and supported by Mr. Luiz, Upper School Music Teacher. The event was created with the goal of building a lasting impact within our community and the vision of becoming an annual tradition.
Bringing together young musicians from different schools, the festival celebrated collaboration, creativity, and the shared experience of music-making on campus.
Seeing our students share their work with confidence made this showcase a memorable moment for everyone involved. Thank you to our families for being part of this experience.

At Gávea, students performed She Wrote, Died, Then Wrote Some More, a Middle School theater piece that showcased creativity, humor, and a strong narrative voice.
Each performance reflected students’ dedication to the arts and their growth on and off the stage.

Our Middle School students are back from Uruguay after an incredible Friendship Tournament hosted by the American School of Montevideo!
Our boys’ and girls’ teams hit the field and court for friendly soccer and volleyball, but the trip went far beyond the competition. Our Panthers stayed with Uruguayan host families, immersing themselves in local traditions and experiencing a warm sense of community that sparked personal growth and independence.
Over two days of friendship games, our students focused on participation, teamwork and respect while building international connections and representing EARJ with pride and sportsmanship. Way to go, Panthers!
