Uma única letra… e vários sons diferentes!

Se o português já parece difícil, a letra S pode explicar parte dessa confusão.

Veja só:

🔹 No início da palavra, o S tem som forte:
✔️ sapato
✔️ sala
✔️ semana

🔹 Entre duas vogais, o S geralmente tem som de Z:
✔️ casa → caZa
✔️ mesa → meZa
✔️ visita → viZita
✔️ música → múZica

E tem mais…

One letter… two different sounds!

If Portuguese sometimes feels confusing, the letter S might be one of the reasons.

Here's why:

🔹 At the beginning of a word, S has the regular "S" sound:
✔️ sapato (shoe)
✔️ sala (room)
✔️ semana (week)

🔹 Between two vowels, S usually sounds like "Z":
✔️ casa → caZa
✔️ mesa → meZa
✔️ visita → viZita
✔️ música → múZica

Quem é mais direto: brasileiros ou ingleses?

A resposta não é tão simples… porque isso tem muito mais a ver com cultura do que com educação.

No Brasil, é comum evitar um "não" muito direto para não parecer rude. Já em países de língua inglesa, as pessoas costumam dizer exatamente o que pensam de forma mais objetiva.

Nenhum dos dois está certo ou errado. São apenas formas diferentes de se comunicar.

Aprender um idioma também é aprender a entender essas diferenças culturais.

Traduzir palavra por palavra é um dos erros mais comuns de quem aprende um novo idioma.

Expressões como:
👉 "Tô de boa"
👉 "Partiu!"
👉 "Deu ruim"

não fazem sentido quando traduzidas literalmente.

O segredo para falar como um nativo não é decorar palavras, mas entender o contexto.

Neste vídeo, o português começa bem simples e vai f**ando cada vez mais natural, rápido e cheio de expressões usadas pelos brasileiros no dia a dia.

🟢 A1 – Frases básicas e fáceis de entender.
🟢 A2 – Conversas simples sobre rotina.
🟡 B1 – Situações reais e vocabulário mais amplo.
🟡 B2 – Expressões que você provavelmente ouvirá no Brasil.
🔴 C1 – Signif**ados que não aparecem na tradução literal.
🔴 C2 – Português natural, expressões idiomáticas e velocidade de um falante nativo.

Você sabia que "resolver" nem sempre signif**a "resolver um problema"?

Essa é uma das palavras que mais confundem quem está aprendendo português.

Veja esta frase:

"Hoje eu resolvi comer melhor e malhar mais."

Nesse caso, eu não estou solucionando nada.

Aqui, "resolver" signif**a:

✅ decidir
✅ tomar uma decisão
✅ escolher fazer algo

Por isso, a frase poderia ser entendida como:

"Hoje eu decidi comer melhor e malhar mais."

Outros exemplos:

Resolvi viajar sozinho.
Resolvi mudar de emprego.

Mas atenção!

Em alguns contextos, "resolver" realmente signif**a "to solve".

Por exemplo:

Resolver um problema.
Resolver uma equação.
Resolver um conflito.

Mais uma vez, o contexto muda completamente o signif**ado da palavra.

E essa é uma das razões pelas quais aprender português é muito mais do que apenas traduzir palavras.

In this case, I'm not solving anything.

Here, "resolver" means:

✅ to decide
✅ to make a decision
✅ to choose to do something

So the sentence could be understood as:

"Today I decided to eat healthier and exercise more."

More examples:

Resolvi viajar sozinho.
Resolvi mudar de emprego.

But be careful!

In some contexts, "resolver" really does mean "to solve."

For example:

Resolver um problema.
Resolver uma equação.
Resolver um conflito.

Once again, context completely changes the meaning of the word.

And that's one of the reasons why learning Portuguese is much more than simply translating words.
