Em inglês "listen" está para a audição como "assistir" está para a visão no português!

Você pode ver algo que não 'assistindo', em inglês essa diferença também vale para a audição, você pode estar escutando/ouvindo algo mas não está 'listening'.

Example: "I was listening to the ATIS when I heard a strange noise coming from the left engine"

When to use 'for' and 'to'?
In a nutshell remember we should say "cleared to land" or "cleared for landing" because "for" requires a noun and "to" can be the auxiliary to a verb in the infinitive

A Quick Guide:
"To" and "for" are often used interchangeably, especially in informal speech. However, there are specific contexts, particularly in aviation, where using the correct word is crucial for clarity and precision.

Using "to"
* Direction or Destination:
* "The aircraft is descending to altitude of 5,000 feet."
* "We are cleared to land on runway 31."
* Purpose or Goal:
* "The flight is scheduled to depart at 10:30 AM."
* "The instrument panel is designed to provide essential flight information."

Using "for"
* Benefit or Advantage:
* "This procedure is for your safety."
* "The autopilot is a valuable tool for long flights."
* Duration or Time:
* "The aircraft is airborne for approximately 3 hours."
* "The weather forecast is valid for the next 24 hours."

Remember: While these guidelines can help, context is key. If you're unsure, consider the meaning you want to convey. Is it direction, purpose, benefit, or duration?

Choosing the right word will ensure your communication is accurate and effective.
