Sunrise this morning on the beach!

It might have just hit me what we actually saw today. It was pretty amazing. Christ the Redeemer, arms outstretched, welcoming his flock. Gorgeous views on this beautiful Sunday! The afternoon photos are from our hotel rooftop. Sunsets rather early here, 5:30pm. I'm limited where I can safely carry my camera, so these gems are far too few. Sunrise this morning was on my phone.

Today we had an amazing visit to Rockwell International. Rockwell is headquartered in Milwaukee. It was an amazing visit. I find it very interesting to see how American company culture transfers to other countries. They are very much a continuous improvement organization. They spent a lot of time with us and the students really enjoyed it. They didn't let us take pictures inside though, so no photography today. We did find ourselves in the middle of a trucker and private bus company strike. It is very interesting to watch how this impacts the logistics and transportation in the country. They are protesting government taxation of gas. Brazil is a self sufficient producer of fuel, yet the prices are beginning to mirror barrel prices set by OPEC. Peaceful protests have been happening in our area, but we are safe and all is good. We will be traveling to Rio tomorrow. More pictures and updates to come. Boa Noite!

In the afternoon yesterday we went to Sao Paulo Cathedral, which was absolutely beautiful. We then walked to B3, which is Brazil's stock market. We received an interesting lecture on the Brazilian Economy. We didn't get to take our picture on the stock floor because they had a conference earlier. We were surprised that the stock floor was so small. There used to be 200 traders on the floor. Now all stock trades are done online.

Yesterday we visited Humboldt College. It's a German School in Brazil. It was so interesting. They have grades PreK through Grade 14 (Technical Degrees). Their school structure is very similar to ours and they have their very own Kindergarten. It was fun for Claudia who is from Germany, she received a lot of attention. These students know how to speak English, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. It is crazy. Our students had the opportunity to learn about the culture and structure of Brazil and we were able to share about our country as well. We also met Ranata who worked for CH Robinson and was a former student at this school. I could take 100s of pictures of the wee ones.

Today we visited an Engineering school. They gave a terrific presentation and a tour of their electrical engineering labs. The students were amazing!

We might have sat on a tarmac for 5 additional long hours, but we arrived in São Paulo...then we feasted😳. I should say the fruit is unlike anything I have ever tried. Now we rest and shower!

And we are off! Brazil here we come!
