A Olimpíada Internacional de Astronomia e Astrofísica (IOAA) é a maior e mais prestigiada olimpíada internacional de astronomia, realizada anualmente em diferentes países. Este ano, o Brasil será o anfitrião e, sob a organização do Observatório Nacional, receberá 53 países de todo o mundo nas cidades de Vassouras e Barra do Piraí, no estado do Rio de Janeiro. 🌎

É com grande satisfação que destacamos a parceria com a Olimpíada Brasileira de Astronomia e Astronáutica (OBA), a maior olimpíada de astronomia do Brasil. 🌠 A OBA desempenha um papel essencial na educação científica do país, oferecendo provas teóricas para todas as séries do ensino fundamental e médio, além de uma competição prática incrível: a Mostra Brasileira de Foguetes (MOBFOG), que desafia os alunos a construir e lançar foguetes de garrafa PET. 🚀 Além disso, a OBA organiza a Jornada de Foguetes, uma competição presencial que ocorre em Barra do Piraí, o mesmo local que receberá a IOAA deste ano. 📍

A OBA não é apenas uma competição, mas também uma porta de entrada para que estudantes brasileiros possam se classificar para as seletivas das Olimpíadas Internacionais de Astronomia, incluindo a IOAA. 🏅 Isso significa que os alunos que desejam representar o Brasil em competições internacionais de astronomia devem necessariamente participar da OBA.

With so many nationalities gathering here 🌎, the combined straight-line distance traveled by the delegations to Brazil is roughly equivalent to 1.5 times the distance from Earth to the Moon! 🌙 This just highlights how special this gathering of brilliant minds from around the world truly is. 💫

Discover the Asian and Oceanian Nations Participating in the 17th IOAA! 🌏

We are excited to introduce the Asian and Oceanian countries that will compete in this year’s International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics! 🌠 This prestigious event will be held in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in the cities of Vassouras and Barra do Piraí, from August 17th to 27th. 🗓️

These continents bring together a diverse and dynamic group of participants, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region and their commitment to advancing scientific knowledge. 🌟 Among these nations, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are transcontinental countries with territories spanning both Europe and Asia. However, due to their strong cultural, historical, and political ties to Asia, we are including them as Asian participants in this post.

We are also proud to welcome New Zealand, which carries the great responsibility of representing the entire continent of Oceania, as it is the only representative from the region.

🌿✨ 17a IOAA conquista o Selo Evento Neutro!

Estamos orgulhosos em anunciar que a 17a Olimpíada Internacional de Astronomia e Astrofísica, organizada pelo Observatório Nacional (ON/MCTI) conquistou o Selo Evento Neutro, demonstrando nosso compromisso com a sustentabilidade e a responsabilidade socioambiental! 🌍

O mote desta edição do evento é sustentabilidade e, por isso, a adesão do selo Evento Neutro é tão importante para nós. Com o selo, demonstramos a preocupação e o empenho em neutralizar as emissões de carbono produzidas durante o evento.

🤔 E como a compensação do carbono funciona?

Através do apoio ao Terrus Carbon Coffee, um projeto inovador de agricultura regenerativa no Brasil. O projeto faz uso de uma tecnologia nacional para melhorar o manejo do solo. 🌱

Essa tecnologia ajuda a capturar e armazenar mais carbono no solo, além de reduzir a emissão de gases poluentes das práticas agrícolas.

Ao todo, vamos compensar 30.000 kg de gás carbônico, o que equivale a um total de 180 árvores plantadas.
