On our first day in Rio we visited the beaches from São Conrado beach - near Pedra da Gávea, from which people go hang gliding - to Leme beach, where we had lunch. From São Conrado to Leme, we went by Leblon, Ipanema, and Copacabana beaches. Since it’s winter time in Brazil and Ed and I don’t deal well with high temperatures, the weather was perfect for us, varying from 21 to 31 degrees Celsius. We also visited Botafogo, Barra da Tijuca and Recreio.

It’s been a month since we started our English Yourself meetings! ✨🎉🎊

Let me tell you a little about what has come up in our weekly meetings. First, there has been networking! The participants have made friends and established business contacts during our meetings. Also, we have discussed gender perspective, myths and truths about foreign/second language acquisition, stress at work, international business, trips abroad and going through customs. We have also had fun activities that allowed us to talk about ourselves and get to know each other as well as activities designed to improve our communication skills in general.
Finally, I’d like to stress that discussions about cultural aspects have emerged in all of the meetings. It couldn’t have been different, since I’m not Chilean, we have had foreign participants, and participants who work with foreigners.

I am grateful for the opportunity of meeting each one of the participants. You may be sure that I’ve learned from all of you.

Estoy muy feliz luego de ya un mes del proyecto English Yourself. ✨🎉🎊

Hoy les comparto un poco de lo que ha surgido en nuestros encuentros semanales. ¡En primer lugar, hubo networking! Los participantes ya hicieron amigos y contactos profesionales mientras practicaron su inglés. Ya conversamos de mitos y verdades sobre el aprendizaje de otro idioma, perspectiva de género, el estrés en organizaciones, negocios internacionales, viajes al exterior y los trámites que usualmente necesitas conocer al pasar por la policía de inmigración. También tuvimos actividades entretenidas que nos permitieron hablar sobre nosotros y conocernos y mejorar nuestra comunicación de manera general.
Por último, también quiero destacar que aspectos culturales han aparecido en todos los encuentros. No tenía como ser distinto, ya que no soy chilena, ya tuvimos participantes extranjeros y personas que trabajan con extranjeros.

De mí parte, estoy muy agradecida por la oportunidad de conocer y aprender con cada uno de los participantes. Estén seguros de que he aprendido de cada uno de ustedes.
