Seven years of learning, growing and building together.

Seven years ago, several families in Recife chose to begin an educational journey with Red House School. Since then, our story together has been shaped by curious questions, discoveries, new possibilities and by great people who make our community as special as it is.

Today, with two campuses, countless achievements and a community that continues growing, we look back with gratitude for everything we have built together.

So, to every family who believed in our project, every student who brings new questions to our classrooms and every educator who makes learning meaningful: thank you for being part of this story.

And this is only the beginning. There are many new achievements coming soon.

Sete anos de aprendizagem, crescimento e construção em conjunto.

Há sete anos, famílias escolheram começar uma jornada educacional com a Red House Recife.

Desde então, nossa história vem sendo construída por perguntas curiosas, descobertas, novas possibilidades e por todas as pessoas que fazem parte da nossa comunidade.

Hoje, com dois campi, muitas conquistas e uma comunidade que continua crescendo, olhamos para tudo o que construímos com gratidão.

A cada família que acreditou nesse projeto, a cada aluno que traz novas perguntas para nossas salas de aula e a cada educador que torna a aprendizagem mais significativa: o nosso muito obrigada por fazer parte dessa história.

E esse é apenas o começo. Muitas novas conquistas estão chegando.

Two languages. One meaningful learning journey.

Learning to read and to write in both English and Portuguese at Red House is a carefully planned, evidence-based process grounded in meaningful connections, discoveries, and experiences. Our bilingual language program was thoughtfully designed by linguist Marcello Marcelino.

In this video, you’ll hear from a Red House parent as she shares her perspective on her child’s literacy journey and the development of these skills in both languages.

At Red House, we understand bilingual literacy as an ongoing process that respects each student’s individual pace while creating meaningful opportunities to develop independence, comprehension, and confidence as a capable reader and a thoughtful writer—one who understands how to write in different genres and to make intentional choices based on the goal audience.

Because every new word, connection, and discovery represents an important step toward becoming an increasingly capable and confident learner.

Duas línguas. Um processo de aprendizagem significativo.

Aprender a ler e escrever em inglês e português é um processo que acontece na Red House, por meio de um planejamento linguístico sério e embasado em evidências científicas, criado pelo linguista Marcello Marcelino, através de conexões, descobertas e experiências significativas.

Neste vídeo, você ouve ao depoimento de uma mãe da Red House, onde ela compartilha sua visão sobre o processo de alfabetização do seu filho e o desenvolvimento dessas competências nas duas línguas.

Building strategies. Strengthening learning.

For students who are new to Red House and are developing literacy in English, Support Classes provide focused opportunities to strengthen reading skills and build confidence in approaching new texts.

In this experience, students develop reading predictability by identifying patterns, anticipating information and activating previous knowledge before and during the reading process.

These strategies support metacognitive development, helping students become more aware of how they learn, make connections and interpret texts.

At Red House, understanding each student’s learning process allows us to create meaningful pathways for them to develop their potential.

Para os alunos que chegam à Red House e estão desenvolvendo a literacia em língua inglesa, as Support Classes oferecem oportunidades direcionadas para fortalecer as habilidades de leitura e ampliar a segurança diante de novos textos.

Nessa experiência, os alunos desenvolvem a previsibilidade da leitura ao identificar padrões, antecipar informações e mobilizar conhecimentos prévios antes e durante o processo de leitura.

Essas estratégias contribuem para o desenvolvimento metacognitivo, ajudando os alunos a compreender melhor como aprendem, estabelecer conexões e interpretar textos.

In Year 1, learning about Cultural Heritage began with something familiar: childhood games.

As part of an inquiry into cultural heritage, our students shared games and activities that their family members used to play when they were children. By listening, comparing and sharing these experiences, they explored how traditions are passed from one generation to another and how everyday experiences can become part of our cultural identity.

At Red House, inquiry-based learning invites students to investigate the world through their own experiences, building connections between personal stories, family traditions and a broader understanding of culture.

No Year 1, a investigação sobre Cultural Heritage começou por algo muito próximo das crianças: as brincadeiras da infância.

Como parte dessa investigação, nossos alunos compartilharam jogos e brincadeiras que seus familiares costumavam fazer quando eram pequenos. Ao ouvir, comparar e compartilhar essas experiências, eles exploraram como as tradições passam de uma geração para outra e como vivências cotidianas também fazem parte da nossa identidade cultural.

Na Red House, o inquiry-based learning convida os alunos a investigar o mundo a partir de suas próprias experiências, estabelecendo conexões entre histórias pessoais, tradições familiares e uma compreensão mais ampla da cultura.

What can a childhood game teach us about Cultural Heritage?

In Year 1, our students discovered that heritage is not only found in monuments, celebrations or historical objects. It can also live in the games we play, the stories we hear and the traditions shared within our families.

By bringing these memories into the classroom, students had the opportunity to listen to different experiences, identify similarities and differences, and reflect on how culture is passed between generations.

At Red House, learning through inquiry encourages students to look at the world with curiosity, make meaningful connections and understand that their own experiences can be a starting point for discovering something much bigger.

O que uma brincadeira de infância pode nos ensinar sobre Cultural Heritage?

No Year 1, nossos alunos descobriram que o patrimônio cultural não está apenas em monumentos, celebrações ou objetos históricos. Ele também pode estar nas brincadeiras, nas histórias que ouvimos e nas tradições compartilhadas dentro das nossas famílias.

Ao trazer essas memórias para a sala de aula, os alunos tiveram a oportunidade de ouvir diferentes experiências, identificar semelhanças e diferenças e refletir sobre como a cultura é transmitida entre gerações.

In Math class, Year 2 students started learning about decimals. This activity lead students to make mathematical thinking visible.

In this video, Maria Luisa (7 years old) shares what she has learned during the lesson, explaining how decimals work and how she connected the concept to her own learning process. Giving students the opportunity to explain their thinking strengthens student agency, communication skills and conceptual understanding, key elements of an International education.

Na aula de Matemática, os alunos do Year 2 começaram a aprender sobre números decimais. Essa atividade levou nossos alunos a tornarem mais visível o seu pensamento matemático.

Neste vídeo, Maria Luisa (7 anos) compartilha o que aprendeu durante a aula, explicando como funcionam os números decimais e como relacionou esse conceito ao seu próprio processo de aprendizagem. MATH: Buy & Sell 💰🛍️

Our Year 2 learners put their math skills into action through a Buy & Sell activity! Students used pretend play money to choose products from their classmates’ flyers, calculate the total cost, pay, receive the change, and check their remaining money.

Through this hands-on experience, they practiced counting, adding, comparing amounts, and making strategic decisions while developing agency and learning from one another.

Aula de Matemática na prática: Comprar e Vender 💰🛍️

Nossos alunos do Year 2 (7 anos de idade) colocaram seus conhecimentos matemáticos em prática em uma atividade de Compra e Venda! Os alunos utilizaram dinheiro de brincadeira para escolher produtos dos folhetos criados pelos colegas, calcular o valor total da compra, pagar, receber o troco e verificar quanto dinheiro restou.

Por meio dessa experiência prática e significativa, eles desenvolveram habilidades de contagem, adição, comparação de quantidades e tomada de decisões, além de exercitarem sua autonomia e aprenderem uns com os outros. 💡💰

Understanding climate change starts by understanding our responsibility towards the planet.

In this video, Elsa (Year 5 student) shares what she has learned about SDG 13, Climate Action, and reflects on why addressing climate change requires awareness, responsibility and collective action.

By exploring global challenges through learning, students develop critical thinking and international-mindedness while recognizing that their choices can contribute to meaningful change.

At Red House, global citizenship is built by connecting what 10/11 year old students learn in the classroom to the challenges which shape our world.

Compreender as mudanças climáticas começa por compreender nossa responsabilidade com o planeta.

Neste vídeo, Elsa (aluna do Quinto Ano do Ensino Fundamental) compartilha o que aprendeu sobre a ODS 13, Ação Contra a Mudança Global do Clima, e reflete sobre porque enfrentar as mudanças climáticas exige consciência, responsabilidade e ação coletiva.

Ao explorar desafios globais por meio da aprendizagem, nossos alunos de 10/11 anos de idade desenvolvem pensamento crítico e a consciência internacional, reconhecendo que suas escolhas podem contribuir para mudanças significativas.

Na Red House, a cidadania global é construída ao conectar o que os alunos de 10/11 anos aprendem em sala de aula aos desafios que moldam o nosso mundo.
