The Cultural Construction of Memory and Imagination
Prof Dr. Brady Wagoner

Cultural psychology starts with the assumption that persons and social-cultural worlds mutually make each other up. This two-way interaction can be seen in the appropriation of cultural artifacts, ritual, eating behavior, language use, basically everything humans being do. The course begins by setting out some basics principles of cultural psychology through lecture/discussion and in-class exercises on symbol formation, followed by a field task at Institute Franscisco Brennard. It proceeds to explore a number of issues surrounding the study of memory and imagination from a cultural perspective, such as the diversity of knowledge and relating to the urban environment.
