This has been the month I’ve travelled the most this year. I got to spend some f2f time with my team, learnt new things, got to understand a bit regarding how different colleagues work across Brazil, met new people, got to hug dear ones again, thought I wouldn’t be able to cope with my to-do list, worked on new projects, visited customers, got back to my studying routine, and spent as much time as I could with the ones I love back home. August flew by, and just like that, we’re heading to a brand new month. Did it treat you with kindness?

I don’t know about you, but I’m totally looking forward to September!

Wrapping-up a busy and fruitful week in Paraná, and a highly special one, for it was my first time meeting these colleagues for workshops!

It was both exciting and daunting, I must admit, as it is no walk in the park to share your teaching beliefs and research with colleagues and contexts you’re not familiar with yet.

We worked on workshops for range of areas; from strategies to engage learners, to teaching speaking skills, and I’m amazed by the stories and ideas shared in our sessions. Teachers set the tone for classroom experiences, and I’m overjoyed for meeting so many passionate and diligent professionals along the way.

A special thanks to Marcelo Stamm , who shared a bit of his work and invaluable experience with me this week!

Such an unforgettable 22nd international conference! And it’s all about people, indeed: The staff that works tirelessly to make it happen, the peers who get it all set for the visitors at each booth, the friends and colleagues we get to see, hug and learn from. Thank you all for being there! And thank you, for another brilliant one! ✨

Still on cloud nine with the workshop we shared at the 22nd BTIC!
Sharing our ideas and research is never a walk in the park, but it is an honour being able to meet so many diligent professionals who are willing to reflect on their practices with open minds and hearts.

I’d like to thank all the colleagues who chose my session as part of their development journey this week! I’d also like to thank for giving me the opportunity to attend this incredible event!

Finally, I wholeheartedly appreciate the dear friends who ‘were there’ somehow and managed to share their best practices for helping students become more autonomous throughout their learning journeys (.d.meddings , , , , , and ). A memorable one, indeed! ❤️

Learning a new language is a non-linear process, and failing to recognise their own progress impacts learners’ sense of motivation and engagement.

Looking forward to connecting with peers at the 22nd Braz-TESOL International Conference! During the workshop ‘From abstract to achievable: Making learner progress visible’ we’ll be exploring a range of factors that hinder self-awareness in the learning journey and discuss ways to bridge the gap between teacher support and learner autonomy.

Due to my current routine as an academic coordinator, I’ve got fewer 1:1 learners, but every now and then I have the gift of welcoming new students. Teaching learners for the first time always gives me ‘New Year’s Day’ feelings, and I absolutely love it!  
A few years ago I posted here my running order for Day 01 activities. As I teach 1:1/1:3 students online nowadays, why not sharing its updated version? Here are some of my go-to Day 01 practices:

✅ GTKEO Activities, so that I not only break the ice and get to learn more about the student, but also further explore his/her communicative competence.

✅ The Deal check is still part of my Day 01 running order, and it is a great manner to align expectations as well as allow students with the opportunity to clear any doubts they have regarding this new journey.

✅ I take lots of notes, and debrief them with the learner towards the end of the session. My digital notebook features areas such as themes discussed on that day, emerging language, an accuracy spot, and exit ticket/HW. On the latter, I also add insights regarding their participation, and areas we could focus on for future meetings.

✅ The Exit Ticket: I ask my learners questions such as ‘Did you feel comfortable during this meeting?’, ‘Which task did you enjoy the most?’ and ‘Is there any specific theme you’d like to explore next class?’. These questions are handy and can be used throughout the term.

I had the opportunity to enjoy my 6th Bett Brasil, and though it is indeed an intense week, it is also one of the places to be when you wish to exchange ideas, (re)connect with peers, and learn more about different trends in education.

Every single year has been unique, still the most important part of the event is truly the people that take part in it, from the ones who bring our ideas to life in the stands, to the teachers and partners who visit us with an imperative goal in mind: To keep advancing learning, making education the best it can be for their learners.

What a gift it has been to share this Bett (and the previous ones) with you all!

It’s been almost a year since I last shared an update on this feed, so before we get back to our usual stuff, why not sharing a glimpse of life lately?

So far, 2026 has been a mix of it all! There’s been lots of online teaching and travelling, but also spent quality time with my friends and family. I was a host for one of the company main events, which was exciting! Despite the amount of online meetings (which almost drove me nuts at some point), I managed to have some of them face to face too, and those moments made my days brighter. I started delving into new themes, and worked with a nice view (but not many people knew that I was actually visiting my brother at the hospital, and couldn’t stand that same view after a day or two).

The 20th BTIC was my 3rd one, and it was memorable for several reasons. I’m grateful for every friend I got to see and hug throughout the conference, for how much I’ve learnt by attending outstanding sessions, for the team that made my days brighter and funnier, and for every colleague who took some time to be there during my session. ❤️

Over next week, I’ll have the incredible opportunity to attend the BTIC for the 3rd time, which is both a huge honour and responsibility. I can’t wait for all the learning and sharing that will be happening throughout the conference. Moreover, I’m also looking forward to meeting colleagues and friends face to face.❤️

The main aim of my session this year is to empower colleagues, exploring ways to make thinking visible in the classroom, and taking a look at some of the routines I’ve been experimenting within my teaching context.
