Our newest article, led by Camilla A. de Paiva, titled "Assessing and managing safety risks to downstream communities (in hindsight): What went wrong in the licensing and impact assessment procedures of Brazil's deadliest dam breaks?" provides a thorough analysis of the roles that licensing and impact assessment played in the tragedies of Fundão (2015) and B1 (2019).
Findings are likely to appeal to scholars and practitioners who are interested in the sound articulation of risk analysis with social and environmental impact assessment, especially when the safety of downstream communities is at stake.
