It's unsurprising these principals are found illustrated by both scientific data and spiritual wisdom when you think about it. I’ve gone through this recently. Coming from poverty, addictions, mental illness and generational trauma to having a happy family, doubling our already-good income in a year, living in my dream location - working my passion as a career AND staying home with my babies because I have time freedom… it came with the HARDEST times.
No one really talks about it but it’s also hiding in plain view. Everyone who works with people making dramatic changes MENTIONS it. But it’s a crucial piece.
I’ll be sharing more about this. Follow Laura-Lee Lothbrook | Happiness Researcher for more. Source cred: the wise Candas Barnes

I’m back - I moved - things got a little hectic but we’re online and doing better than ever.
Conflict is one of the most misunderstood facets of a healthy, successful, life. This goes doubly so for people with what I call microtrauma from childhood.
Successful people know conflict is natural and it’s not about fighting others but about standing up for yourself. They also realize it’s necessary. It’s how we find equilibrium. And it’s definitely required to grow and expand.
This feeling - this microtrauma - making it seem like you’re doing something wrong by having conflict is holding you back. And not dropping into the energy of standing up for yourself is making your conflict feel ugly.
Drop into the energy of standing up for yourself and conflict will go a lot smoother for you. You’ll win more and you’ll be kept up less nights in the process of untangling it.
I promise.
Conflict used to feel like hell to me. I never understood why. I just wanted to avoid it at all costs. But I also wanted to be successful. And guess what? Conflict and success go hand in hand. Conflict and growth are part and parcel with one another. You can’t crack a seed open, push through the earth, allocate resources for your development - and take up space - without conflict.
This is natural. Part of the process.
But conflict felt so wrong to me. Until I had so much of it (from succeeding) that I started understanding it from the inside out.
Once I learned how to drop into the energy of standing up for myself, conflict seemed like a necessary part of existing and maturity. It stopped bothering me. It didn’t get overly enjoyable (though it can be a *wee* bit fun to strategize and win against people who *are* wrong), it’s still uncomfortable, but it’s not something I worry about in the same way.
Like vulnerability. When you’re coming from an unhealthy attachment - vulnerability can feel excruciating. But when you’re secure, it feels a bit raw but it also feels RIGHT. It feels TRUE. It also feels NECESSARY. And that’s what propels you forward.
In both, even if you fail - it feels righteous and what needed to happen.
If you want to start filling developmental gaps - my membership walks you through the 3 stages (independence, interdependence and leadership) via 8 Personal Powers that make success inevitable.
The most powerful place you can be (if you’re not simply enjoying everything you’ve ever wanted) is on the path there. This is how you know you’re on that path.

I have a neighbour friend whose kids are no contact. She hangs out with my son. We love her very much. And I know she made the bed she lies in with her kids.
It’s not about being either perfect or a horrible human being. It’s about being willing to take accountability. If you didn’t have someone who could or would do that as a caregiver, you have to now do it for yourself.
As unfair as it is - you have to take accountability for all the ways you’re not optimally developed now. Because even if it’s not your fault - as an adult, it’s your responsibility.
Neurons that fire wire together. It’s the hardest at first but every time it gets a little easier.
Trust me on this one.
