The project KNOW.it is a comprehensive initiative that aims to use digital technologies to document and advocate for the architectural heritage of Italian origin located overseas, with a specific focus on Brazil. The project is embedded in the Horizon Europe program and the PNNR (Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza), which prioritize cultural heritage for economic and social development. The p
roject addresses global challenges by disseminating high-quality knowledge, methodologies, skills, and technologies. Using a multidisciplinary approach, the project aims to digitally preserve and promote architectural heritage that remains largely unknown by using innovative strategies to facilitate its "virtual return" and accessibility to diverse user groups. KNOW.it’s key objectives include formulating a cognitive framework for understanding overseas heritage, standardizing data acquisition and modeling workflows, and establishing a cloud-based hypermedia archive for enhanced user engagement. Additionally, the project seeks to draft operational protocols for knowledge dissemination, ensuring qualitative control and inclusivity in user accessibility. The project is divided into several phases: reconnaissance, memory reconstruction, digital modeling, hypermedia space construction, and knowledge dissemination; by using digital technologies, the project endeavors to contribute to social and economic sustainability by fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of cultural heritage.
