All these idioms mean that a children behave like their parents.

“A chip off the old block”,
The term dates back to ancient times and compares a chip of stone or wood to the larger block it was cut from. 
By the 17th century, it was already a proverb in English.

Similar idioms in English are:
“Like father like son”
The female equivalent of the idiom is “like mother, like daughter”, appears in the Bible in Ezekiel 16:44.

And “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
In 1839, Ralph Waldo Emerson was credited with making the first known usage of the phrase in the United States. However, an old German proverb “Der Apfel fällt nicht weit vom Stamm” is similar but uses the word “trunk” instead of “tree”.

The Portuguese Equivalent is “Filho de peixe, peixinho é”
Literal Translation: “The son of a fish is a little fish.”

bat·ty n. /ˈbadē/ (batties pl.) informal • West Indian

a person’s bottom.

In Jamaican Patois, batty boy is a slur often used to refer to a gay or effeminate man.
The term batiman (or battyman) is also used in Beliz.

not having something or feeling great loss:
“Alone now and almost penniless, he was bereft of hope.”
“After the last of their children had left home the couple felt utterly bereft.’

Etymology:
late 14c., past-participle adjective from bereave (v.)
Since mid-17c., mostly in reference to life, hope, loved ones, and other immaterial possessions.
Past tense forms bereaved and bereft have co-existed since 14c.,
now slightly differentiated in meaning,
the former applied to loss of loved ones, the latter to circumstances.

Synonym:
desolate, devastated, deprived of, robbed of, stripped of, denuded of, cut off from, parted from, devoid of, destitute of, bankrupt of, wanting, in need of ,lacking.

Antonym:
blessed, endowed, filled.

And it’s not just Brazilians who have difficulties with TH as this consonant digraph is not that common outside of English.
Making the sound may seem awkward at the beginning, as you need to stick your tongue out a little bit between your teeth to make it.

There are two ways to pronounce the TH sound in English; voiced and unvoiced. 
The difference is whether the vocal cords are used to make the sound:
Voiced TH /ð/
Made by using the vocal cords, which creates a buzzing or tickling sensation.
Unvoiced TH /θ/
Made without using the vocal cords, by pushing air through the mouth. 

General rules:
Voiced THused between two vowels, after a silent “e”, or at the beginning of function words. Function words are words that express grammatical relationships with other words in a sentence, such as “the”, “”there”, this”, “that”, “than”, and “those”.
Unvoiced THUse at the end of a word or before a consonant, or at the beginning of most other words. For example, “think”, “third”, “Thursday” and “thank” all start with the unvoiced TH.

Mispronouncing the TH 
Non-native speakers (and some native speakers based on the dialect and accent) will often substitute similar sounds such as /f/ /v/ or /s/ for a soft /unvoiced TH, or they may use a /t/,/s/,/z/ or /d/ sound for a voiced TH. This can sound something like “baf” or “bas” instead of “bath” or “der” instead of “there.” Jamaican English often has TH pronounced as “d”.

“loose lips sink ships”
meaning “beware of unguarded talk”. 

An American English idiom that means to be careful about what you say, or to be aware of the potential consequences of sharing sensitive information. The phrase originated during World War II as part of a propaganda campaign to warn people to avoid careless talk that could undermine the war effort.

The British equivalent used “Careless Talk Costs Lives”, and variations on the phrase “Keep mum”
in neutral Sweden the State Information Board promoted the wordplay “En svensk tiger”
(“A Swedish tiger” or “A Swede keeps silent”: the Swedish word “tiger” means both “tiger” and “keeps silent”)
Germany used “Schäm Dich, Schwätzer!” (English: “Shame on you, blabbermouth!”).

The Brazilian Portuguese Equivalent
“O peixe morre pela boca”
Literal translation: Fish die through the mouth

Fish who don’t open their mouths don’t get caught on hooks.

There is also: “quem fala demais dá bom dia a cavalo”
Literal translation: someone who talks too much says good morning to a horse
someone who talks a lot can end up saying things they don’t want to or shouldn’t, especially about themselves.

lurgy n. (UK) */ˈlɜːɡɪ/

(humorous, informal)
Any illness that is not very serious but is easy to catch, that’s difficult to categorize, with symptoms similar to a cold or flu.

I can’t go to work today - I’ve got the lurgy!

Often used in the phrase “the dreaded lurgy”

Etymology:
A nonsense word popularized by Spike Milligan and Eric Sykes, scriptwriters for a 9 November 1954 programme of The Goon Show, “Lurgi Strikes Britain”, about the outbreak of a highly dangerous, highly infectious and—as it turns out—highly fictitious disease known as “the Dreaded Lurgi”.
The origin of the word is unknown.
It’s used in British, Australian, New Zealand, and northern and southwestern English regional dialects.

The earliest known use of the word lurgy is 1769 as “Fever-lurgy” a compound word that’s a Northern English dialectal phrase that means “lazy or idle”, in the writing of William Borlase, an antiquary and naturalist.

Honest, sincere, and trusting, sometimes in a way that seems silly.

Etymology:
late 16th century: from Latin ingenuus literally ‘native, inborn’, from in- ‘into’ + an element related to gignere ‘beget’. The original sense was ‘noble, generous’, giving rise to ‘honourably straightforward, frank’, hence ‘innocently frank’ (late 17th century).

Synonym : naive, innocent, simple, childlike, trusting, trustful, over-trusting, gullible

Antonym: disingenuous, artful

Portuguese > ingênuo/a
