What is ABT NTC and why is it good for the ballet student. “The most recent training system , which launched in 2008. It was designed by Franco De Vita, principal of the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, and Raymond Lukens , artistic associate of the ABT/NYU master’s degree program. It incorporates elements of the French , Italian, and Russian schools and consists of seven levels of training plus pre ballet primary level. Goals and objectives are set for each level , and it is up to the individual teacher to design excercises to accomplish them. What makes this curriculum unique is that it takes a more holistic approach with teachers by addressing the areas of anatomy and kinesiology , dance related injuries- prevention, and recovery - nutrition , psychology, and child development , risk management, and medical and facility guidelines.”by Rory Foster Author of Ballet Pedagogy and the Art of Teaching More info at www.abt.org
The beauty of this method is that it can be incorporated in any ballet school if the teacher is thoroughly trained in classical ballet, examined by ABT and passes her training. Professional and Recreational schools and students benefit from the expertise and thoughtful method from beginner to professional level schooling .primavera
