The Bishop of Embu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Peter Kimani Ndung'u, has urged students to anchor their academic journey on faith in Christ as a foundation for excellence.
Presiding over a Holy Mass at Embu KAWA academy to bless candidates ahead of the national examinations, Bishop Kimani said listening to God's voice and remaining rooted in faith would enable learners to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
"Remain rooted in faith and have a strong foundation to be able to conquer every obstacle coming your way," the Bishop told the learners.
He encouraged the learners to heed God's call to do what is right - including commitment to studies, obedience, and assisting parents in their daily duties.
Bishop Kimani further cautioned candidates against allowing external and family challenges to derail their focus, and urged them to shun fear which he noted hinders achievement.
Addressing the teachers, the Bishop appealed to them to dedicate all their efforts to guiding the learners appropriately towards excellence.
He also challenged parents to be role models, cautioning against the use of insulting and vulgar language in the presence of children.
"Do not speak insults around the students, lest they adopt vulgar language as their primary communication," he said, urging parents to instill respect and provide for the holistic wellbeing of learners.
Meanwhile, the school's Director, Mr. John Kanjoya, urged teachers and students to work tirelessly to sustain the school's exemplary performance recorded in previous years.
Mr. Kanjoya also commended the school board for its unwavering and continuous support, which he said has been instrumental in the institution's growth and success.
The ceremony brought together candidates, teachers, parents and board members in a prayerful send-off as the school finalizes preparations for this year's national examinations.
