In Portugal, Fernando, teacher of Ateliê da Luz, had the opportunity to teach photography to a new student, Ylenia. As part of her final project, she chose to photograph Sage Cameron, turning her creative process into a portrait series that goes beyond the image itself.
Sage is an artist whose story is marked by challenges, transformation, and new beginnings. After facing difficult moments, personal struggles, and a battle with cancer, art became a path toward rebuilding. Today, cancer-free and adapting to a new physical reality after having his left shoulder blade removed, he continues to explore painting, experiment with new techniques, and discover new ways to create.
It was this journey of resilience, reinvention, and artistic expression that the photographer sought to capture. A project that reveals not only the person in front of the camera, but everything behind that gaze.
