Netflix released its adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez´s "One Hundred Years of Solitude".

According to "The Economist", "the book presents a formidable challenge to film-makers for two reasons. One is its status: many think "One Hundred Years of Solitute" was the greatest novel of the 20th century. It helped Marquez win the Nobel Prize in literature in 1982 and has sold more than 50m copies worldwide. With affection comes expectation. When the TV show was announced, fans online were quick to express their fears about an oversimplified, "caricatured" retelling."

Today, we are recommending a historical docudrama. What is a docudrama, by the way?

A docudrama is a hybrid film or television genre that blends the factual research of a documentary with the storytelling and emotional depth of a drama.

This is a two-season Netflix Series titled "Rise of Empires: Ottoman".

What is the relationship between the events portrayed and the discovery of the future country to be named Brazil?

Without the events shown in the series, the Portuguese fleet might never have sailed far enough into the Atlantic to encounter the Brazilian coast.

Strategy:
Adding the subtitles in English considering the contextualised vocabulary related to the 15th and 16th centuries.

A touch of an advanced level structure:
A series that has two seasons ...
= A two-season series (Advanced touch: take out the "s" and hyphenate)

A short exercise:
1. A class of 15 minutes
2. A book that has 200 pages
3. A meeting that lasted 4 hours

= A 15-minute class, a 200-page book, a 4-hour meeting.

One of our main goals at ECC Brasília is to close the gap between the B and C levels. In other words, nossos alunos decidiram "sair do eterno intermediário".

Therefore, some mistakes must be addressed. A gramática vem entrelaçada com assuntos atuais e as habilidades produtivas (speaking and writing). For instance, concerning MODAL VERBS and PRONOUNS:

1. Modal verbs are followed by the first column of the verbs:
to work - ed - ed
= ... can work in most companies.

No "s" or "ed". Apply the first column after modal verbs such as:
may
might
can
could
must
should
ought to

2. Pronouns
companies - they
they - their

On the other hand:
company - it (singular)
it - its
"Companies will hire people who are aligned to their needs."
"That company will hire people who are aligned to its needs."
