We are honored to welcome Dr. Vivian Bussinguer-Khavari as a featured speaker at “Crossing Borders: Intercultural Conversations in ELT”!

Presentation Title: Fostering Intercultural Awareness in Today’s Globalized World: The CASE of an Intercultural Communication Course at a Japanese University.

Bio: Originally from Brasília, Dr. Vivian Bussinguer-Khavari was raised bilingually (English/Portuguese) and later acquired Japanese after being offered a full scholarship by the Japanese Ministry of Education to pursue higher education in Japan. After studying Japanese at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies for one year, she entered Kobe University, where she completed her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees all in her third language: Japanese. She continues to reside in Japan, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at Kwansei Gakuin University. Her research interests include TESOL, intercultural communication, Performance in Education (PIE) and Heritage Language Education (HLE).
