After seeing a group of young players being bullied, they decide to form their own three-man baseball team and take on Little League squads themselves. What follows is pure mid-2000s comedy — ridiculous opponents, absurd rule-bending, underdog victories, and grown men taking children’s baseball far more seriously than anyone should. The Benchwarmers is silly, unapologetic, and exactly the kind of sports comedy that knows how ridiculous its own premise is.

The movie Stallone almost tried to bury

Imagine nearly killing the film that would create one of your most iconic characters.

John Rambo, a troubled Vietnam veteran, drifts into a small Washington town and immediately clashes with the local sheriff. What begins as harassment and an arrest quickly escalates into a violent manhunt through the surrounding wilderness, where Rambo’s military training makes him far more dangerous than anyone expects. First Blood is much more grounded and emotional than the sequels that followed, focusing on trauma, isolation, and the treatment of returning veterans as much as the action itself.

The film also came close to being very different. Stallone has said an early version was far longer and that he pushed for extensive cuts, especially to Rambo’s dialogue. The tighter final version helped turn First Blood into a major success and launched one of action cinema’s most recognizable franchises.
