Students Get First Glimpse of Seria Energy Lab’s Newly Revamped Exhibition Hall

After being temporarily closed to the public for two years due to renovation works, Seria Energy Lab has recently reopened its doors with a refreshed and modernised exhibition centre. Four of our students were fortunate to be given an exclusive preview of the newly revamped hall ahead of its official opening on 28 November 2025.

The visit began with a briefing in the theatre by Mr. Allen Jaffran Angi, Lead of the Exhibition and Education Department of Seria Energy Lab, followed by an engaging Science Show conducted by SEL’s very own science communicator, Nurul Fathien Amirul, who captivated the students with two exciting fire experiments.

Our students were among the very first to explore the brand-new exhibits.

One of the highlights is the “Aqua Lab,” the centrepiece of the exhibition. This immersive section showcases a new ecosystem of freshwater aquariums featuring iconic species found in Brunei’s freshwater habitats.

The “Oil and Gas” exhibit takes students on a fascinating journey through the formation of hydrocarbons and the process of oil and gas extraction. Visitors can view real rock samples and learn about Brunei’s onshore and offshore drilling technology.

Meanwhile, the “Smart Science” section offers hands-on activities where science, technology, engineering and mathematics come alive through play and discovery.

Another crowd favourite is the “Discover Little Borneo” exhibit, where students can explore the rich biodiversity of Borneo and encounter various creepy crawlies up close. This section was co-designed by SEL and UBD Museum and includes an innovative interactive quiz game developed in-house by SEL’s own talented team. Using a touch-screen computer interface, the game challenges visitors to test their knowledge about Brunei’s wildlife in a fun and engaging way.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially the interactive displays, which sparked their curiosity and made the learning journey both engaging and memorable.
