International School Brunei (ISB) Seria recently held its Early Years Open Morning, welcoming prospective families to explore the school’s nurturing learning environment. The tour was led by the Head of ISB Seria, Ms Tracey Woodcock, who shared insights into the school’s Early Years programme.

Ms Woodcock commented:
“It was a pleasure to welcome many new families to ISB Seria at our Early Years Open Morning. We spoke about our British Early Years Curriculum and how our purposeful play activities are carefully planned by qualified teachers. The children had great fun exploring our indoor and outdoor learning environments and meeting other children. Children are eligible to start Pre-Kindy at any point in the year once they turn two years old.”

The event provided families with an opportunity to experience the vibrant Early Years setting and learn more about how ISB supports young learners in their first steps of education.

International School Brunei (ISB) Seria celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri with its community in a joyful and festive atmosphere. The celebration featured a variety of performances, including dances and singing from students, showcasing both new and classic Hari Raya songs. Hari Raya holds great significance for our community as it is a time of reflection, gratitude, forgiveness, and togetherness. The celebration was made even more special as students, staff, and families gathered to share food and enjoy the festivities together.

International School Brunei (ISB) Seria families came together to “Sungkai Bersama,” breaking fast together through a shared community meal. The warm and welcoming atmosphere reflected the close-knit spirit of the ISB Seria community, as families, students and staff gathered to share food, conversation and meaningful moments together.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the values of togetherness, cultural appreciation and community that are at the heart of life at ISB, strengthening the bonds between families and the school.

International School Brunei (ISB) Seria celebrated Brunei Darussalam’s 42nd National Day with a flag-raising ceremony. Students observed the singing of the National Anthem and the raising of the national flag, while proudly wearing their national dress.

Year 4 enjoyed a trip to the Malay Technology Museum to learn more about Bruneian culture.

They played traditional Bruneian children’s games such as pasang and congkak. They also learned about wedding dresses from all the regions of Brunei. In addition, Year 4 observed replicas of water village homes over the last 100 years and learned about the advancement of technology in the fishing industry.

A group of 17 Year 2 students from International School Brunei (ISB) Seria recently participated in a special storytelling session at Panaga Library.

ISB extends its sincere appreciation to Ms Elizabeth and the team at Panaga Library, who generously provided the venue and organised story time and activities connected to Year 2 class learning topics.

The visit was the first event of a meaningful community collaboration that ISB Seria has proudly launched, with the aim of encouraging a lifelong love of reading among young learners. As part of this initiative, ISB Seria Year 2 teachers are partnering with local schools and libraries to share stories with students both in person and online. Through shared reading sessions, students will also take part in creative and engaging activities inspired by the stories, helping to deepen comprehension and spark imagination.

This event marked ISB Seria’s first collaboration with local schools and Panaga Library in promoting literacy and reading engagement within the wider community. Through this initiative, ISB Seria hopes to inspire children to explore a variety of reading genres, develop early language skills, and build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

ISB Seria’s Year 1 students went on a trip to the Brunei’s Art and Handicraft Centre where they looked at materials and their uses. It was such a fun and informative experience as they explored local and traditional art of painting batik, sculpting silver, producing and designing brass, producing the traditional songkok and traditional weaving. We are very thankful for Brunei’s Art and Handicraft Training Centre as well as our lovely Brunei History and Cultural Curriculum lead Ms Honey for hosting and providing for our trip.

ISB Seria Kindy students enjoyed a visit to the Seria Library. Through shared storytelling, dancing to the beat, and a guided hot-air balloon craft, students developed early listening, language, and fine-motor skills.

These experiences support a love of literature, encourage imagination, and help lay strong foundations for early reading and communication.
