“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
– Neil Gaiman in Coraline

We’re still battling our dragons… 🐉
But we’re hopeful ✨

I have decided to put vacation mode on. I feel immense guilt for not having produced or made anything to share with you all. Im just not in that mental space of making or creating. The past year or so have been quite a struggle for me. Feeling overwhelmed most times. And I need to get my life back in order, I was losing control.

I am reconnecting with friends having one-on-one time over coffee or having walkabouts. I hope to be back in the space of being inspired, creativity and creating again.

I know my socmed engagement have been going down. But I think that is the least of my problem right now, and I have faith I can built it up again once I’m ready.

Any orders I have received or agreed to I will still honour, it’ll be albeit slow in completion, just bear with me on that one.

I miss my global bookbinding friends, those that I follow and some I have gotten close to over the years. All of your work have been very inspiring.

I just want to thank everyone who have been following this journey. I am very grateful.

I received a copy of the annual report for the other day, I have had previous annual reports of theirs, it’s lovely to see all the things they have been doing for the community. And I was so surprised to see inside their report! It was during the middle of when COVID was still making people wary. But ok enough to have some activity happening. During the beginning of when COVID started here, I decided to take the opportunity to downsize the studio and made these A4 sketch books with La Vida Beamers in mind (made at least 30 books) And gathered up all the blank canvases and paints I had for the young beamers to use as I felt they’ll get more use out of them than me, I was letting go of my dream of going back to illustration and painting. It was a wonderful surprised to be acknowledged and even had our logo in it too. My intention was to just provide the beamers a way to help develop their creative skills as they were delving into a lot of art at that time, and from my experience being in art college, having a sketch book is a must. La Vida are always in need for volunteers, drop them a message if you like to volunteer your time and skills for the many projects they are involved in. Thank you La Vida Brunei for all the things you are doing in supporting and helping the community and those in need.

Selamat Hari Raya Maaf Zahir Batin / Eid Mubarak from Make A Book! We’re determined to enjoy this long holiday weekend break. We know we haven’t really been around much, Wina have been busy with her thing, you can follow her at , and I’ve been busy with fostering and rescuing here . We still are doing our books albeit at a slower pace, still receiving commissions and orders, chipping through that slowly. Just a quick note to let you all know we’re still alive 😁 and will share our books as and when. Thank you for still sticking around! 💖✨

The lady who’s book this belonged to was hesitant in approaching me until she couldn’t stand it any longer and asked if I could repair her Bible. Of course I said, and she was relieved, she was worried it be taboo or something to that effect. It was a gift from her husband, sentimental value, and because it was falling apart, he made her a book sleeve to protect the book! He literally cut up the materials and did it all on the sewing machine. Husband was so sweet.

She just wanted a new cover for it that can still fit into the book sleeves. I used cotton for the cover, new end page, new endbands and metal corners. I included several bookmarks because those are always handy and you can never have too much 😁

The home studio. The best I could tidy so far 😅 Except for that corner spot where the green baskets are. I still need to reduce that area. As you can see, I ran out of space for anything 😆
I can comfortably have up to four people when doing workshops here. I do enjoy having smaller groups so can easily keep an eye on what they’re doing when making their books.
