The In-Country Training Programme on “AI in ACTION: Enhancing TVET” was successfully conducted from 4 to 8 May 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The five-day programme brought together 30 participants from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector to explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing teaching, learning, training delivery, and institutional practices within TVET environments.

The programme was facilitated by Dr. Ir. Muhammad Ikhwan Jambak, SEAMEO VOCTECH Knowledge Management Manager and TVET Specialist (Information Technology), who served as the Facilitator and Resource Person throughout the training. Through a series of interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, collaborative activities, and knowledge-sharing engagements, participants were introduced to emerging AI technologies and their applications in education and workforce development. The training emphasized the integration of AI-driven tools and innovative digital solutions to strengthen teaching methodologies, improve learner engagement, support institutional efficiency, and prepare TVET institutions for the evolving demands of Industry 4.0 and beyond.

The programme also provided participants with opportunities to exchange experiences, discuss current challenges in TVET implementation, and identify practical strategies for integrating AI into their respective institutional contexts. The collaborative learning environment fostered professional networking and encouraged cross-sector dialogue on the future of AI-enabled TVET systems.

The Closing Ceremony was held on 8 May 2026 and was officiated by Ts. Zulkernai bin Fauzi, Director Bahagian Pendidikan dan Latihan Teknikal Vokasional (BPLTV), Ministry of Education Malaysia, as the Guest of Honor.

The successful implementation of the programme reflects the growing importance of AI competencies in the TVET sector and reinforces the commitment of stakeholders towards strengthening digital readiness, innovation, and sustainable human capital development in the region.

SEAMEO VOCTECH continues to prioritise staff health and well-being.

On 6 May 2026, Management, officers and staff gathered at Dewan Seri Kerna for a Health Talk on good health and early detection as we age.

We were honoured to welcome Yang Mulia Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi, Chief Medical Officer from RTCT Diagnostics, as our distinguished speaker.

As defined by the World Health Organization, health is complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease. Yang Mulia Dato further highlighted that, in the context of Brunei Darussalam, spiritual well-being is also integral to holistic health.

The session emphasised regular screenings, early diagnosis and healthier lifestyles for long-term well-being, with Miss Shane Ong, Scientific Officer, also presenting the types of health screening available.

SEAMEO VOCTECH remains committed to promoting proactive health management and supporting staff in leading healthier, balanced and fulfilling lives.
