On 6 June 2026, AITI participated at the AI in Governance Conference themed “Turning Data into Decision”, in conjunction with Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) 2026.

Representing AITI in a panel discussion was Norshahrul Nizam bin Othman, Assistant Chief Executive, Data Protection Office and International Group, who highlighted the importance of implementing an AI Governance Framework and in particular, complying to the Personal Data Protection Order 2025, when its AI systems process personal data.

Farah Zainal, Secretariat of Working Group on AI Governance and Ethics, also delivered an overview of the second version of the Guide on AI Governance and Ethics, highlighting the seven key principles organisations need to consider when developing and/or deploying AI systems.

AITI extends its appreciation to .alliance for organising an insightful forum that continues to support responsible innovation and effective adoption of AI within Brunei Darussalam’s ecosystem.

AITI is seeking a Tenderer to develop, organise and manage an end-to-end programme which provides technical training and mentorship programme for digital animation creators to develop skills in producing commercialised short-animated film(s).

The objective is to nurture and develop a digitally skilled workforce in Brunei Darussalam particularly in animation production and to establish potential start-up(s) capable of producing animated contents using relevant digital tools and technologies.

Closing date for submissions: Tueday, 7 July 2026 no later than 3:00 PM

On 29 May 2026, AITI observed Hari Raya Aidiladha 1447 Hijrah with Ibadah Korban and Aqiqah ceremony held at AITI premises.

In commemoration of the spiritual significance of the occasion, which embodies devotion, gratitude and compassion for those in need, a total of four buffaloes were sacrificed this year.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Takbir Raya and prayers, followed by the distribution of sacrificial meat to AITI officers, staffs and the underprivileged communities.

The event concluded with a communal meal shared among attendees, followed by a collective clean-up, reflecting the values of togetherness, unity and cooperation in the spirit of Aidiladha.

AITI extends its heartfelt appreciation to all staff members, ASSA House Teams and the organising committee for their dedication and cooperation in ensuring the smooth and meaningful observance of this cherished annual tradition.

On 27 May 2026, AITI had the pleasure of conducting an awareness talk on “Online Etiquette and Safety” at Sekolah Rendah Haji Tarif. The session was attended by 46 students from Pre-School to Year 6, alongside members of the teaching staff.

Delivered by AITI’s Content Regulation Unit, the session provided students with valuable insights on navigating the online space safely and responsibly from a young age. Topics covered included safe use of internet applications, the importance of managing screen time, as well as proper etiquette when using social media and online gaming platforms.

AITI extends its sincere appreciation to Sekolah Rendah Haji Tarif for the invitation and hopes the session will inspire students to develop safe and positive online habits.

On 20 May 2026, AITI participated as both panellist and presenter at the annual BILIF Corporate Governance Forum, themed “Governance in Crisis: Risk, Reputation and Board Accountability”, held at Radisson Hotel, in conjunction with Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) 2026.

Representing AITI in the panel discussion was Norshahrul Nizam bin Othman, Assistant Chief Executive of the Data Protection Office and International Group, highlighted the importance of organisational accountability under the Personal Data Protection Order (PDPO) 2025. He emphasised the role of boards of directors and organisational leaders in ensuring readiness, including the appointment of at least one Data Protection Officer (DPO) to oversee compliance efforts.

Farah Zainal, Manager of AITI, also delivered a presentation on key PDPO insights for corporate directors, focusing on the 9 Obligations under the PDPO. Her session reinforced that the appointment of a DPO is an important governance requirement in strengthening data protection practices and building public trust.

AITI extends its appreciation to .bn for organising a timely and insightful forum that continues to support proactive leadership and good governance within Brunei Darussalam’s corporate ecosystem.
