this week features Juniors performances of Alice in Wonderland. The musical production was performed in Term 3 of 2020-21.

JIS Arts Centre became Wonderland, hosting the fantasy journey into one of the best known and most popular works of fiction in the English language. Lewis Caroll’s wonderful story follows the adventures of Alice, a young girl who discovers a strange subterranean world filled with peculiar human-like creatures.

Alice in Wonderland is a classic tale of childhood imagination running wild. The character of Alice shares many similarities with JIS Junior School children. Curious, positive, excited and brave are just some of the characteristics that Alice and our children have in common. When she says “Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast” you can hear our resilient, creative and positive-minded Junior School children getting ready to tackle whatever lies ahead to make this show happen.

this week features performances of The Wizard of Oz. The musical production was performed in Term 2 of 2020-21.

The story of Dorothy and her magical trip from Kansas to Oz, down the yellow brick road with her new friends was retold by a cast of 62 Senior School students, supported by a student team of technical crew and a plethora of dedicated adults. The Wizard of Oz is a story that we all know well from the extremely famous movie. At the time of its release it was groundbreaking for many reasons. Characterised by its use of Technicolor (an amazing step forward for the time!), fantasy storytelling, musical score, and memorable characters, the film has become a timeless classic.
