Meet Jackson, a three years old boy, who has been thriving in our Early Intervention Program.

T.Weng has been focusing on nurturing growth in various areas as well as developing his verbal communication, social interaction, academic and cognitive skills.

We're thrilled to share that Jackson has made an astonishing achievement in terms of vocal communication. He was enrolled with no speech sounds and couldn't follow any instructions. Now he is able to imitate words, request reinforcers, sing songs and make animal sounds.

Learning a new skill

It took him a while to fully understand the concept of time but with continuous effort, he has finally reached mastery.

Reading a clock involves learning to differentiate shorthand and longhand, counting by 5, learning terms like half, quarter, past and to. As it takes a longer time for children with autism to process information, teaching one sub skills at a time is crucial for success.

Finding it a challenge to teach your child with autism to spell?

Oftentime parents teach their children spelling by introducing a set of new words at once. This can be overwhelming to them.

Try to make your praise to correction ratio 5:1 or 3:1. This helps the child feel a sense of achievement as repeated failure can demotivate the child's learning process.
