As part of Reading Hubs initiatives, CfBT collaborated with Pauline Chan to read her book at participating schools in the month of May. On 16 May, Sekolah Rendah Tumpuan Telisai welcomed Pauline, who captivated children aged 5 to 8 with an expressive reading of Lucy's Fantastic Flying Adventure, inspiring imagination and a love of reading among learners.
The students were hooked from the very first page, eagerly listening as Pauline brought the story to life – complete with her adorable sunbear teddy, which the children absolutely loved. Only the first half of the book was revealed, leaving the rest for class teachers to continue in their own sessions. A joyful, inspiring morning for all. Thank you to Pauline for visiting and reading with the children!

On 13 May, CfBT held its second workshop on 'Strategies for Teaching English to Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)' at SR PSJ KB, led by Edward Stones, CfBT's SEN Lead Advisory Teacher.
Following the workshop, the MOE's Special Education Unit, JPKhas, conducted a session in which several officers presented information on available support, including the department's functions and the formal referral process.
It was, yet again, a positive turnout, and we thank the organising committee for their dedication to teacher capacity building, particularly in SEN.

It might feel like a stretch to move to a country and culture you don't know, but if there's one thing teachers say about working with local colleagues, it's that they are welcoming and genuinely appreciate the experience that international teachers bring to their schools.
Don't take our word for it. Here's what one of our teachers had to say.
