AES is deeply grateful for the support from Lindo's Grocery Stores in raising money to help fund our range of services during this week's Round Up Day. We're also incredibly appreciative of all the community members who decided to spend a little more on their groceries than they'd planned in order to help us serve Bermuda's adult learners. If you have interest in supporting us further - or if you need our services - please email [email protected] or Whatsapp 705-6677

Enrich your life by joining new workshops
at the Adult Education School
We are excited to announce a new series of community enrichment workshops designed to help you improve your life.
Three classes – which will take place at the school’s building on Dundonald Street, Hamilton, in February and March, 2023 – are the first wave of workshops since the AES relaunched with the aim of helping community members meet the demands of today’s Bermuda. They are:
• Who Cares for the Caregiver?
Marilyn Jackson, a seasoned eldercare practitioner, will take participants through what’s required to care for older folks and how to best handle the challenges that come along with it. This four-session series will cover everything from health conditions, legal issues, self-care and the resources available on island to help you carry this burden.
• Real Estate Made Simple
Everyone who lives in Bermuda knows property isn’t just valuable in terms of dollars – it also contributes to stable and successful lives. Frederica Forth, an experienced real estate professional and trainer, is running this two-workshop series that will help attendees learn everything they need to successfully engage with the local property market, from renting to buying and selling. Participants will also be prepped to better understand what it takes to earn their real estate licence and transition into Ms Forth’s successful exam prep course.
• Gathering Your Family History
Our elders have accomplished extraordinary things in extraordinary ways that many of us are unfamiliar with – not through a lack of interest, but rather due to the absence of the skillset required to effectively record, understand and share our family stories with current and future generations. In this two-workshop series, family history expert Cecille Snaith-Simmons will share her techniques for accessing, documenting and presenting elders’ stories in an accessible way.
Director of Programming Thaao Dill said: “It’s clear people in Bermuda need and deserve more opportunities to learn not just the academic abilities that can help them find better jobs, but also the skills that can help them navigate the challenging world we live in.
“These workshops are designed to empower people in very real ways – whether that’s by giving them the knowledge to improve their lives, or by simply offering them the chance to enrich themselves by learning. We urge the community to take advantage of these opportunities.”
In addition to the enrichment courses, the AES is running a GED programme with individualised pathway coordination. In the coming months, it will introduce further programming involving vocational skills training and college and career readiness preparation.
Fees for the workshops are no more than $25. If you are interested, please call or WhatsApp Thaao Dill on 705-6677 or email [email protected]. Anyone interested in learning at the AES, providing support as a community member, alumni or donor, or forming a partnership as a fellow service provider can call the same number.

In light of the threat posed by the spread of Covid-19, the novel coronavirus, the Adult Education School is closed for an indefinite period beginning today Monday 16th March, 2020.
