Refugio is a disciple-making based ministry for young adults. It is part of Igreja do Evangelho Quadrangular – Sede in Belem, Brazil. Under the leadership of Pastor Tassio Barletta and an amazing team of pastors and small group leaders, Refugio recently celebrated its sixteenth anniversary with a celebration that included both rejoicing over all that God has done in sixteen years and acknowledging the launch of several new small groups.
Refugio began sixteen years ago with Pastor Tassio and four other believers meeting in a garage, all of whom shared a passion to truly become a “life-on-life” disciple-making community. Today, that vision has expanded to over 205 home cell groups of about ten to twelve persons each who evangelize unbelievers and disciple each other by “doing life together.” It’s not a program nor classes but an almost daily connection with each other that includes studying His Word together, speaking the truth to each other, baptizing those they lead to Jesus, helping each other obey what Jesus says, fellowshipping over meals, taking vacations together, celebrating family milestones, etc.
Describing themselves as “a network of small groups,” over 2000 young adults gather every Sunday evening at Sede to worship, pray and be further equipped through a sermon. Refugio is truly a gift to our Foursquare global family and a strong model of what Matthew 28:16-20 actually looks like in daily life.
