The film team's 4-wheel-drive vehicle needs a little TLC so it can get back to doing its important work!

It's like "Where's Waldo?" 😀 Jesse Johnson was spotted all over the Discovery School Burundi campus today checking on the progress of various improvement projects... these days daytime electricity is sporadic at best, so the welders are spending nights on campus working on the playground. They're making good progress!

This week we are hosting Mr. Samuel, a Christian carpenter from Israel. We are so thankful for his help setting up our workshop and teaching a young DS alumnus the basics of woodworking so that he can teach others... not to mention refinishing our dining room table!! 🤩

Thankful for a good Discovery School Burundi school board meeting (yesterday) where God's promise to give us wisdom when we ask Him was very evident.

We are back upcountry in Kibuye, near Gitega, checking up on and helping the new Discovery School here. This morning the little bus had some mechanical trouble... it was going to be late for its second loop picking up students that live relatively nearby-- so Jesse played bus driver with 14 kids squished into our vehicle (only a few kilometers on back roads with zero other traffic, so safety wasn't an issue). They're so cute!!

On Friday, we transported a bunch of school supplies and two teachers to their new home in Kibuye. Today this new branch of Discovery School Burundi, near Burundi's 2nd largest city, Gitega, officially opened it's doors. We picked this location specifically to provide a good education for the children of local Burndian doctors serving at a nearby mission hospital. They have been praying for a good school for years. Praise the Lord with us that we can be part of His answer.

Labor day isn't a holiday here, so I got to spend it (and today and tomorrow, too) laboring at one of the things I like best-- training new teachers! It is exciting to get to know the people the Lord has chosen to join the Discovery School Burundi family this school year and to be a small part of helping them prepare for the for their classroom and teaching ministry this year.

Our new workshop saw its first full day of use today as DS alumni worked with me to create classroom decor and educational materials for Discovery School Burundi's 3 campuses. Praying the Lord will use this workshop and everything created in it for His glory!

Our Bujumbura film team is up in Gisuru doing filming for their next Christian movie. While there they are showing evangelistic films at nearby churches. Pray for them as they continue to spread the gospel. May they reach many for Him!

Busy days hiring new teachers for Discovery School Burundi. Til 7:30pm Wednesday night grading tests, and til after 11:15pm last night doing group critical-thinking tests and evaluating spoken language skills. Prayers appreciated that God will give us wisdom and bring just the right people!!

Over the last three days, we enjoyed an encouraging visit from Tim and Joy Beer from CMML's member care team. It was wonderful to get to share with them about our work and the wonderful things God is doing in Burundi.
