Cohort 7 of the Opportunities Program has officially completed its first week. What an incredible start to this journey. Over the past week, our participants have built meaningful connections, learned how to set SMART goals, and taken their first steps toward building strong academic and professional profiles.
We also had the honor of welcoming Querene, a 2022 Menya Alumn, for a session on Finding Opportunities, where she shared her experiences, practical tips, and valuable advice with our participants. Having secured an Admission to University of Pennsylvania and now persuing her studies in Hong Kong, Her story and encouragement reminded us that opportunities may not always come easy, but persistence, preparation, and the courage to keep going can make all the difference. 💙
This is just the beginning, and we’re excited to see how Cohort 7 continues to learn, grow, and make the most of every opportunity ahead.

On July 24, Menya Accelerator held its Annual Gathering to answer the question:
"In a world of limited resources, how can I seize my dream opportunity?"

We came together not to find a single perfect response, but to create space for diverse voices, honest conversations, and real connections.

The Menya Annual Gathering brought together opportunity seekers, entrepreneurs, and ecosystem builders, all in one room, inspiring next steps based on the journeys of those who walked the same path before.

Through a powerful panel, inspiring speeches, and intentional networking, we celebrated how far Menya has come and how far our community continues to push forward.

To our 2 Entrepreneurship Program and 1 Opportunities Program graduating cohorts, we celebrate you. We look forward to journeying with you as you continue answering this question.

Remember: opportunities may not announce themselves, and there's no perfect day to start building. But the answer gets clearer the more you keep going, even with limited resources.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting for a session on finding and navigating opportunities. ✨

From Gikungu to Edinburgh, her journey is truly inspiring. After completing her bachelor’s degree in the US and her master’s degree in Europe, Belyse shared insights from her own academic and professional path, and how international opportunities helped shape her growth.😊

During the session, she gave solid advice on where and how to look for opportunities, leveraging our network, and how to prepare strong applications before actually starting the process.

She also encouraged participants to never tire of looking for opportunities and not to be discouraged by the “no’s,” but rather to use them as fuel. As she said, you get better over time.✍️

This week, we were honored to host Chancelle Bamuhaye, founder of hope for better future Burundi and children’s rights activist, who shared her valuable personal experiences and insights on community engagement and leadership in Burundi with our current Opportunities Program cohort of university students.

Through her journey, our participants learned that community engagement is not just about volunteering, but also a powerful tool for personal growth, leadership development, networking, and building a strong profile and sense of purpose. 🌍✨

While many may have viewed her corporate career as a dream path, she shared what inspired her to choose a journey centered around serving others and creating meaningful impact within our communities.😊
