Arabian Gulf University Library, (AGU Lib), in Kingdom of Bahrain is an academic special library provides information resources and services that supports the university’s Arabian Gulf University Library, (AGU Lib), in Kingdom of Bahrain is an academic special library provides information resources and services that supports the university’s instructional programs and educational goals, as well as
to support scientific research projects and academic faculties requirements or staff. It consists of two main depository halls, one shelving resources on medicine and medical sciences, classified on National Library of Medicine (NLM) classification system and periodicals holdings, while the other hall deposits those relating to the university’s graduate studying programs on technological studies fields, environmental sciences and special education, classified in Library of Congress (LC) classification system. The primary focus of the AGU Lib’s collection is on the subjects covered in programs offered at university, although additional not directly related materials and sources will be purchased for a diversified collection. To achieve such objectives, the Library subscribes a rich update collection of print, e-books and electronic resources with a strong focus on course-related information literacy and reference support and more-over 10 databases with both in and off-campus accessibilities. It also accommodates a computer lab, wired and wireless computer access and photocopying, printing /scanning services. The operational goals of the Library’s mission include facilitating access to information through the development of its print collection and electronic databases with access to external information sources, its organization and arrangement for access, appropriate reference services and user's education programs and the library’s seeks to develop professional cooperative arrangements with other libraries aiming maximizing resource sharing and providing a level of consistency in programs and services. The library also seeks to develop relationships with other libraries and relevant professional organizations and groups to develop networks that will widen its collection, increase its professional development and being access to other additional professional expertise.
