9. This is quite a quick rise in terms of progression for a new Nation to the world of International boxing, what would you put this down to?
I believe it has to do with the passion and dedication we have and we want to show it to Bahrain and the world. We are fortunate to have a very supportive community and leader behind us, which only motivates us to grow better, and thatβs what we have continued to show and do since the beginning. It really is all about coming together as a unit and doing something we all love as one. One of our main focus is to make Bahrain the capital of boxing in the region whilst creating opportunities for local fighters to develop and showcase their skills to international audiences, participating in international boxing is a step towards that focus.
10. What are the future plans for Bahrain Boxing?
Grassroots is the priority in everything we do for boxing. We want to ensure that everything we create in this sport is accessible to anyone in Bahrain who wishes to take part. We want to make sure we are helping them create a furtive first and foremost. Creating a system and policies that set standards for boxing in the kingdom is very important; it will be seen in the administration to referees and judges getting paid and to the creation of club shows, which allows different clubs the chance to organize competitions with other gyms under one guideline. We have also won the bid to host the first ever Asian Schoolboy and Schoolgirl competition in Bahrain which requires us to focus on the grassroots programme and again make boxing accessible to all and encourage the youth who are passionate to enter the sport and guide them on their journey - Todayβs youth are tomorrowβs stars. Unfortunately, in terms of dates, a lot of events are delayed due to Covid 19, so we must be patient and continue to move forward when the time is right. We are looking forward to it and will be ready.

Mr Kazerooni - President of Bahrain Boxing Federation continues to talk about the rise of Bahrain Boxing π§ππ₯ βββββββββββββββββββββββββββ 7. Bahrain have managed to participate in nearly every Major Asian Championship last year, how important is this?
The vision of our leader HH Sheikh is to see the Bahrain Flag in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and is a vision that requires a very delicate plan. To get there our Head Coach Tony Davis who has extensive experience and expertise in the field has planned and drawn out the road to the Olympics 2020; participating in these Asian Championships was a part of that plan. It helped our boxers see what levels they are at and what they can do to improve themselves for even bigger and newer heights like the Olympics. This was a challenge since boxing is a relatively new sport in the kingdom and the boxers must give it their all to show what they can do. However, nothing can stop the passion of this team to reach that goal or and we are not afraid of any challenge ahead of us.
8. Bahrain made an appearance at the 2020 Asian & Oceania Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Amman, Jordan after it was moved from Wuhan. Was this a historical appearance?
Absolutely, this was a historic appearance and we plan to keep making history in the coming years.

Continuation of the rise of Bahrain Boxing with President Mr Ali Kazerooni:
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββ 4. You were also involved with the organisation of the βBattle of Bahrainβ in June last year. How was this tournament for everyone?
Helping organize the Battle of Bahrain event was an eye opener as we saw how many supporters there were of the sport and what we want to do with it. This came from the community, gym owners, volunteers, companies etc. Thanks to the head of our Technical Commission we were able to organize a tournament at a standard that was recognized worldwide and the event was a great success. It was filled with high energy from the guests, country and the boxers.
5. In July 2019 you were appointed as President of the Bahrain Boxing Federation, how did you feel about this?
I couldnβt be more honored to having this honorary position and looked forward to the additional responsibilities given to me. I also couldnβt been more thankful for having HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad al Khalifa for investing in me to grow under his leadership and trusting me with this opportunity to build boxing in Bahrain. In the end, all I and the Boxing Federation strive for is creating a strong, supported team with a strong system behind them that will help reach whatever dream they wanted in the boxing world.
6. Bahrain staged the 1st Dual International βBahrain v Kuwaitβ in September, how different was this competition to the βBattle of Bahrainβ? After taking this honorary position the team and I came together and decided to make history by hosting the 1st ever International competition Bahrain vs Kuwait; this was done to motivate the team and showcase the track and future of boxing by reaching new heights that would become part of boxing history. This was the first time we were showcasing our national team and were very proud and excited.

Meet the President of Bahrain Boxing Federation - Mr Ali Kazerooni who gave an overview of the journey so far........π§ππ₯ βββββββββββββββββββββββββββ1. Boxing is a relatively new sport in the Kingdom of Bahrain, how has the sport been in the last 18 months?
Being a new sport in the kingdom, boxing has been built from the ground up in Bahrain from all aspects such as administration, creating new policies, the payment of referees and judges, creating a system for coaches and uniting boxing gyms and helping them meet a unified, worldwide standard. Doing all of this has helped show what kind of future can be built under this sport. This will also help everyone involved in the boxing world in Bahrain reach their full potential in whatever position they are passionate about.
2. You took part in the first-ever Coaching Course in Bahrain, how was this received?
Being already certified in Mittology and owning a gym to teach boxing, we were very excited to partake in the first ever national coaching course hosted and organized by Tony Davis as we are always students of the sport and always have room to learn. It brought many coaches from a variety of gyms together and were able to gain a lot of knowledge and be united as one. It gave all of us a chance to connect and plan for more exciting things in the future.
3. You accompanied a team of 5 boxers to the Ramadan Tournament last year in Abu Dhabi, how was this competition?
We were very excited to take part in a regional competition to showcase our skills, professionalism and dedication in what we do. This was a great experience to see the level we are at, where we could improve and we got to meet new fighters and others in the boxing world. We are very proud to have had one of our national team boxers be awarded the Best Boxer Award, which gave us the confidence and boost to continue participating in these competitions.
