Here’s an article from the “Akhbar-alkhaleej” published 30th November 2020.
The Athena Center, the center of excellence in providing rehabilitation, academic and professional programs for special groups (ages 2-45), announced that it has obtained a license from the Ministry of Labor and Social Development to provide various programs that suit different age groups. The center includes the most advanced facilities and is located in the heart of Manama, as it provides a unique and encouraging learning environment for all individuals with different disabilities (those with determination).
On this occasion, Jalila Al-Sayed, Head of Special Needs Services Department at the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, said, “We are happy to add the Athena Center as one of the accredited Special Education Centers in Bahrain. As people have become more aware of the programs offered to special groups of people of determination, which have increased in demand in recent years, it has become necessary to provide appropriate centers that provide comprehensive and integrated services in this field in one place. Given that the Athena Center, with its available capacity that serves different age groups, it will represent a great addition to accommodate more individuals, which will help us achieve our goal of serving the largest number of people in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
On her part, Dr. Marietta Sicat, Director of the Athena Center, said: “I am very happy that the center has obtained this license, and we are also proud that our work is in line with the objectives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development. Individuals with disabilities and special needs receive support from a group of highly qualified professionals who provide care and support to each individual with the goal of learning and success. Since we have the capacity to accommodate 1000 individuals of different age groups, we are looking forward to being the center of excellence in the Kingdom of Bahrain.”
special requirements to support specific learning needs. Professional teachers focus on adapting their teaching methods to suit the needs and learning capabilities of an individual. The therapists also develop rehabilitation programs that focus on the non-educational needs of individuals in need of rehabilitative therapy, speech, language and behavior therapy, and physical therapy. We focus on multi-sensory enhancement programs, functional studies, adult education, and parenting model approaches. Today, the Athena Center provides day-care options that make it the first specialized center in Bahrain to offer these options.
Everyone deserves to have the opportunity to learn in a positive environment, and Athena Center works in close partnership with caregivers of the disabled (people of determination) to ensure that their loved ones receive all the care and support.
