KaiSeiKan - club of Iaido and Jodo in Varna

The annual jodo competition "Varna Open Taikai" was held as part of the 17th Budo Camp "Art of Japanese Sword." Participants demonstrated excellent technique and spirit, which was noted by the competition's head judge, Rene van Amersfoort (kyoshi jodo, 8th dan).
The competition was held in several categories. The winners were:

category "0-1 dan":

It's almost been a week since our 17th Budo Camp concluded. Six days of six-hour training, tons of instruction, and lots of friendly conversation.

Last weekend, Dimitar Hristov and I (Leonid Karavaev) attended a seminar led by Ishido Kotaro, sensei (7th dan kyoshi iaido), in Lucca, Italy. The seminar was well-organized and held in a building with an interesting and rich history—the Palestra Bacchettoni.

The most important focus of the seminar was "The Importance of Correct Technique." It's wonderful to move well and make sharp, precise cuts; however, if the kata requirements (especially the control points for the ZNKR iai kata!) are not followed, the value of excellent technique diminishes.

The first half-day of the seminar was devoted to Muso Shinden Ryu, where the five kata chosen by the Sensei were discussed in detail. After each explanation, we practiced them, then gathered again for additions and details.

The second day was entirely devoted to ZNKR iai. Many nuances of avoiding mistakes and achieving correct technique were explained. During practice, we were divided into groups based on dan rank.

During the first half of the third day, we divided ourselves into two large groups: ZNKR iai and Muso Shinden Ryu. Dimitar and I were in the latter group. Kotaro sensei explained a few more katas. Then, during independent training, we had the opportunity to practice the kata of our choice and receive individual instructions.

After the break, we split into two larger groups: those who wanted to work on kata and those who wanted to train for competition. We headed to the second group. It was extremely interesting and useful.

Член на клуба ни Алексей Алчин (5дан иайдо, 5дан джодо) прие участие в семинар и състезания по иайдо и джодо, спечели 1ви места в категория "5 дан" и в двете дисциплини.

Негова бележка по събитието:

На 5, 6 и 7 юни в гр. Солун, Гърция, се проведе семинар по корю по иайдо и джодо. Семинарът включваше също тайкай и изпит по тези дисциплини. В първият ден имааше тренировки по корю Шинто Мусо рю (джодо), иайдо корю Мусо Шинден рю, Шинкаге рю и Джикиден Ейшин рю.
Следващият ден от семинара включваше подготовка за състезания и самото състезание до 5-ти дан включително, с церемония по награждаване.
Третият ден от семинара включваше подготовка за изпити и самите изпити, по джодо до 3-ти дан и иайдо до 4-ти дан. Демонстрации от школите по корю от 6-ти и 7-ми данове и демонстрация на сейтей джодо до 5-ти дан. След церемонията по награждаване на съдиите, семинарът приключи, след което участниците успяха да продължат тренировките си в избраната от тях дисциплина.

Българските представители заеха първо и второ място в различни дисциплини, а Костадин Воденичаров (от Пловдив Кендо Кай) успешно издържа изпита за втори дан по джодо.

През уикенда от 28 февруари до 1 март в София се проведе годишният семинар по иайдо и джодо под ръководството на сенсей Рене ван Амерсфорт, в който участваха членове на нашия клуб.

В първия ден тренировките се проведоха едновременно по Джодо (водено директно от Рене-сенсей) и по Иайдо (водено от Леонид Караваев). И двете групи имаха много интензивен ден.
Артьом Солодянкин успешно издържа изпита по Джодо за 3-то кю.

На втория ден тренировките бяха по Иайдо.
Повечето от кати бяха обяснени, с изисквания за различни нива: от начинаещи до 8-ми дан.
Разбира се, имаше много важни и полезни неща!
Филип Петков успешно издържа изпита за 2-ри дан по Иайдо.
Още една значителна стъпка от дългото пътуване!
