🌍✨ Ритъм, поезия, дипломация и танц се срещнаха в сърцето на Софийски университет по време на Africa Day 2026 / Ден на Африка 2026 — празник на културното многообразие, общността и живата връзка между знание и култура.

Събитието събра представители на дипломатическия корпус, академичната общност, студенти и приятели на Африка около темата на Африканския съюз за 2026 г., посветена на водата, устойчивостта и общото бъдеще. 💧

През последните години Денят на Африка в Софийски университет се развива с активното участие на "Африканистика и Индо-тихоокеански изследвания“ AfricanStudiesSU, а тазгодишното издание беше обогатено и от Катедра по арабистика и семитология, СУ чрез поезия, песни и културни традиции от Северна Африка.

Особено силно празничната атмосфера оживя чрез изпълненията на Асоциацията на африканците и симпатизантите в България и Dizzy Grooves / Работилница по Ритъм и Foli Ba Percussion Band 🥁, които внесоха пулса и енергията на субсахарска Африка, вдигнаха публиката на крака и превърнаха вечерта в истинско споделено преживяване — така, както често се случва в духа на африканските култури: чрез ритъм, танц и общност. 💃🏿🕺🏿

Африка беше не само представена — тя беше преживяна ✨

🌍✨ Rhythm, poetry, diplomacy, and dance came together in the heart of Sofia University during Africa Day 2026 — a celebration of cultural diversity, community, and the living connection between knowledge and culture.

The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, the academic community, students, and friends of Africa around the 2026 African Union theme dedicated to water, sustainability, and our shared future. 💧

Over the past years, Africa Day at Sofia University has been developing with the active participation of the Department of African and Indo-Pacific Studies, while this year’s edition was further enriched by the Department of Arabic and Semitic Studies through poetry, music, and cultural traditions from North Africa.

The festive atmosphere truly came alive through the performances of the Association of Africans and Sympathizers in Bulgaria and Dizzy Grooves / Rhythm Workshop and Foli Ba Percussion Band 🥁, who brought the pulse and energy of Sub-Saharan Africa, got the audience on their feet, and transformed the evening into a shared experience — in the spirit of many African cultures, where rhythm, dance, and community become one. 💃🏿🕺🏿

Africa was not only represented — it was experienced. ✨

🌍 We would like to thank 🇿🇦 Dr. Anthony Kaziboni (University of Johannesburg) for the inspiring public lecture dedicated to water governance, social justice, and sustainable development.

One of the key ideas discussed during the lecture was that the water crisis is not “an African problem,” but a global issue connected to political decisions, institutional structures, and the ways societies distribute resources and priorities.

The lecture emphasized the need for international solidarity, long-term thinking, and policies that place human well-being, social justice, and sustainability before the logic of endless economic accumulation.
