Contrary to popular prejudice that all football players are stupid and uneducated our students exhibit wonderful skills at this sport. That proves that someone who is intelligent and educated would find a way to distinguish themselves in any context. In addition to receiving formal training twice a week most of the boys are playing football during every possible break.

Students are not the only learners at our school! All teachers were given an assignment today to each read one book out of a selection of five titles and then prepare a presentation of the main ideas. There is nothing more contagious than a teacher who keeps growing.

We started second grade class today with a brief exercise in musical imagination. We listened to Jean-Michel Jarre's "Oxygene, Pt. 2" with our eyes closed and then shared what each one imagined while the music was still playing. All students had had associations for a deep space shoot-out while Danny and Varti came up with elaborate stories about pirates, planets and last-minute escape. It is indeed wonderful to observe how naturally children respond to music! Jarre's "Oxygene" (1976) album served as our background all through the day.

On February 1st, 2016, the mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandukova, presented the special Secret Good award to a number of good people. One of them is Julia Atkova - director of New Generation Private Primary School. This is the second year in a row that the school has been recognized, in this way, for offering education and care to children abandoned by their parents.

Yesterday and today members of the NGA team have been taking part in the Second National Conference "Free Development of Education" (http://conference.nmr.bg/?lang=en). Some parents from our school are here as well. It's a real joy to discover there are so many who think alike and to hear ideas that challenge us to further develop and re-imagine our own approach to education. We are convinced this rapidly growing community is moving in the right direction.
