I almost didn’t write this book.

Not because I didn’t have things to say.

I’ve had things to say for twelve years.

But because I wasn’t sure anyone needed to hear them from me.

I don’t have children of my own. I’m not a linguist or a researcher. I’m just someone who has sat with children and families for a very long time and noticed things.
