Moreover, Plovdiv MU has a dedicated Department of International Cooperation. The department is a solid structure within the university that assists in an international capacity including research, faculty and student elements through international forums, programs and projects. As a result of the efforts of the department, Plovdiv MU has relations with 82 foreign universities and participates in the Erasmus scheme as well as having seen a steady increase in foreign applications for full-time study over the last few years as they focus on their new European accredited status. Due to the growing demand, students are now offered the options to study in English or to complete a year of preparatory Bulgarian language study before beginning their medical course.
The Practicalities:
As well as providing quality teaching and support to foreign students, Plovdiv MU also offers attractive tuition fees and an affordable yet vibrant city to live in. Fees start at €2500 for preparatory courses and €4000 for Professional Bachelor’s degrees however the university also offers Masters, PhD and specialisation level courses. Living expenses in Bulgaria are famously low compared to other European standards due to an attractive exchange rate which allows students to live comfortable for fewer than 700 euros a month.
