The Kuyumdzhioglu House, the museum's home, was built in 1847 for the Plovdiv merchant, Argir Hristov Kuyumdzhioglu.

Today, the Plovdiv Regional Ethnographic Museum has a collection of over 40,000 exhibits distributed among the agriculture, crafts, fabrics and clothing, furniture and interior, musical instruments, religious items and works of art exhibits. In addition, the museum boasts a scholarly archive, a library and a photo archive.

The ancient hill of Nebet Tepe (“tepe" is the Turkish word for “hill") is one of the seven historic hills where today’s Bulgarian city of Plovdiv was founded and developed in prehistoric and ancient times. The hills are still known today by their Turkish names from the Ottoman period. Nebet Tepe has the earliest traces of civilized life dating back to the 6th millennium BC, which makes Plovdiv 8,000 years old.

This is where our journey began...

The Roman forum of Philippopolis was the center of public, administrative, commercial and religious life in the ancient city. Meetings, discussions, celebrations and state events were held there.

The ancient city center was built in the 1st century AD. The forum covers an area of 20 ha (11 ha revealed) which makes it the largest of its kind in Bulgaria.
