Monster Doll Exchange Project

Grade 2 students used their imaginations to create unique monster characters, inspired by mythical creatures like unicorns and griffins. They gave their monsters names, personalities, and special features, and thought about how their skin would look and feel. Then, they drew their monsters and shared the designs with high school Textile and Fashion Design students, who turned the drawings into real monster dolls.

ARTIST IN FOCUS

Giacomo’s work explores the complexity of human attraction, drawing inspiration from Caravaggio and Dalí to create a unique style combining chiaroscuro and surrealism.
The religious and scientific symbolism represents the intricacies of attraction.
Throughout, yellow and blue tones and nudity symbolize mystery and intimacy.
His work delves into the multifaceted nature of human attraction through its distinctive blend of artistry, symbolism, and colors. It invites viewers to engage with the artist's personal journey.

THIS WEEEK IN ART - two Studio Art exhibitions in the HS commons:

Amazons - Studio art students examined the visual stereotypes of how popular media portrays female action heroes.
Female portraits - The real life female portraits of studio art students are counterpoints to the series of fictional characters of female action heroes.

Visual Art Vernissage

Opening night: 20th March 2023 at 17.30

Please join us in the High school to celebrate the culmination of two years of creative work by our graduating IB DP and CP students. IB DP students have explored a broad range of concepts, from politics and identity, storytelling and growth while IB CP students have worked towards producing a response to the theme ‘In Between Spaces’.
They have worked extensively in a variety of media and are excited to finally showcase their work.

Exhibition will run until Spring Break

Today we celebrate the fantastic works by the high school drawing classes, showcasing selected works in two mini exhibitions - superhero and villain character drawings in the high school study area, and observational still life drawings in the Atrium.

It is a great pleasure to announce that our Visual Arts team member Marianne Csaky won the the senior half of the Klára Herczeg fine arts award issued by the Studio of Young Artists in Budapest, Hungary. Each year, the twin prize is awarded to a young artist under the age of 35 and a senior artist selected by the Studio of Young Artists. The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 22, 5 pm, at the Foton gallery at Képíró utca 6.

Our senior students have travelled to Paris to see the the Anri Sala exhibition and the Pinault Collection at the Bourse de commerce, as well as the Centre Pompidou! What a day - full of art and inspiration!
