📚🌟 Outstanding National Success! 🌟📚

Congratulations to Keyou (Youyou) Wu, who was declared a lauréate at the National Final of the Dictée du Balfroid and achieved an exceptional 5th place nationally.

This achievement is particularly remarkable as Keyou was competing against students who were, in most cases, three years older than her, and French is her 3rd language.

A passionate reader with a genuine love of books, Keyou’s success is a wonderful testament to the power of reading, dedication and focus.

👏 We also warmly congratulate Chengyu Chen and Mateo Crespo, who likewise qualified for this national final of one of Belgium’s most demanding French language (dictée) competitions.

Our sincere thanks go to their teachers for their encouragement, expertise and high expectations, and especially to Mme Stéphanie, who accompanied the students to the University of Namur and supported them throughout their journey.

Bravo to Keyou, Chengyu and Mateo, their families, and all the staff who helped make this achievement possible. You are an inspiration to our school community.

Three wonderful weeks in the Alps:⛷️⛷️⛷️
Truly life-changing experiences for our students - and not a single sick or injured child (which says everything about the care, professionalism and thought that went into every moment).
A huge thank you to our extraordinary teachers, whose planning, vigilance, warmth and encouragement made these weeks not just safe, but deeply joyful and transformative for the children.
And a very special merci to Mme Stéphanie, whose tireless care held it all together from start to finish. Such dedication from our team makes these experiences possible, meaningful and unforgettable.

As we step into 2026, we pause, and we choose.

At The Courtyard International School of Tervuren, we choose presence over scrolling. We do not pursue attention, algorithms, or constant visibility. Not because we are absent, but because we are fully here: in classrooms and corridors, around tables, in shared actions and service and unhurried conversations, in questions asked aloud, laughter that carries and learning that unfolds face to face, in a real place, in real time.

We understand the reach of digital platforms, and we are equally aware of their weight. Education, for us, is not a product to be promoted, but a relationship to be tended. It grows through trust, time and human encounter.

For this reason, 2026 becomes The Year of the Book at The Courtyard. A quiet, continuous decision to place reading and writing at the centre of school life; to favour pages over scrolling, depth over distraction. Through books, we cultivate attention, imagination, empathy and thoughtfulness, capacities that cannot be hurried or optimised.

This is not a turning away from the modern world, but a rebalancing within it. A reminder that what matters most often grows slowly.

Rather than following trends, we aim to lead with care. We value trust over traction, substance over noise, depth over reach. Our communication is gentle by design and our preference is always to meet people as people, not as profiles.
