🌿 It was a pleasure for DigInnoCent, represented by Professor Mosbeh Kaloop, to visit the University of Huddersfield and present the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐍𝐛𝐒) 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 developed within the 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄-𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐎 project.

The presentation highlighted how the catalogue supports the identification, selection, and implementation of Nature-Based Solutions to enhance climate resilience, promote sustainable infrastructure, and strengthen adaptation to natural hazards. It also provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas on translating NbS into practical solutions that can be implemented across diverse environments and communities.
We would like to sincerely thank our colleagues at The University of Huddersfield for their kind invitation, warm hospitality, and engaging discussions. We look forward to strengthening our collaboration and continuing to advance sustainable and resilient solutions together.

🌱 𝐋𝐀𝐖𝐈 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 – 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄-𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐎 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬

📢 The next generation of researchers is helping shape the future of NbS for climate-resilient infrastructure.

At the first BOKU 𝐋𝐀𝐖𝐈 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬, young researchers from 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and Institute of Structural Engineering (KOIN) | BOKU Vienna showcased their work, exchanged ideas with colleagues, and contributed to interdisciplinary discussions on 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞-𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞.

Through poster sessions, short presentations, and technical discussions, the event provided a dynamic platform to explore current methodologies, applications, and research directions.

Contributions related to the 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄-𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐎 project were presented alongside a broader portfolio of research activities, highlighting BOKU’s active role in advancing nature-based solutions. In particular, 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐚̈𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠-𝐅𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐮𝐱 presented two dedicated 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄-𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐎 posters and delivered the corresponding “1-minute Poster Pitch” presentations, while other team members, including Helinä Poutamo, Michael Obriejetan, and Peter Tisch, contributed with related research topics.

🌿 NATURE-DEMO at GNP 2026 | Budva, Montenegro
Our project partner UKIM-IZIIS represented NATURE-DEMO at the 10th International Conference "Civil Engineering – Science and Practice" (GNP 2026), held from 4 to 7 March 2026 in Budva, Montenegro.

The team — Marija Vitanova, Igor Gjorgjiev, Vlatko Sheshov, Borjan Petreski, Ana Nanevska, and Trajce Zafirov — delivered two oral presentations:
🔹 "Regional Approaches to Nature-Based Solutions for Infrastructure Resilience" — on how NbS can strengthen the resilience and sustainability of infrastructure systems at a regional level.
🔹 "Scientific Projects Currently in Progress at IZIIS" — an overview of active research at the Institute, with a spotlight on the NATURE-DEMO project and its objectives, methodologies, and expected impact.
The event brought together researchers, engineers, and academics from across the region and beyond — a great opportunity for knowledge exchange, expert feedback, and strengthening collaboration networks in earthquake engineering and disaster resilience.
Dissemination activities like this are essential to our mission: bringing nature-based solutions for critical infrastructure protection to a wider scientific and professional audience. 🌍
