✨️ On 11–12 February 2027, we will host at ULB in Brussels the international conference “Literature at Work in Colonisation and Globalisation: Uses and Ambivalences of Literary Production in Global Power Contexts, c. 1850–1980.”
The conference will explore the role of literature in processes of colonisation and globalisation, with particular attention to the ways literary production and circulation intersect with economic, political, industrial, and institutional structures. We are especially interested in literature as a social practice embedded in global networks of power, exchange, and cultural transfer – from colonial and corporate publishing to transnational literary networks and postcolonial forms of negotiation and resistance.
📆 If these questions intersect with your research and you would like to join us in Brussels, we would be delighted to receive an abstract of up to 300 words, together with a short biographical note, by 11 November 2026.
