The Bolick crew

The Bolick crew The Bolick crew was a B-24 crew who was downed during a mission target Bremen on Nov 26, 1943. All men where KIA that day!!!

The Bolick was de eerste crew waar 2LT Gilbert Malrait was toegewezen. Tijdens mijn research ondervond ik dat er ook van deze crew zeer weinig bekend is. Na contact met de families vond ik dat ik een wederdienst schuldig was en besloot ook aan deze crew een kort eerbetoon te wijden. The Bolick crew was the first crew where 2LT Malrait was assigned to. During my search I had the feeling not much wa

s knowing on this crew so I decided to dedicate a page to this crew and started to build this little tribute.

81 years have passed since the crew of Gregory the Great were killed in action in Europe. A member of that crew was my Great Uncle T/Sgt William E. Love.

The U.S. Embassy was saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. César Vanherreweghen.

During WWII, he volunteered for the Belgian Resistance as a teenager. He served with the Secret Army’s Refuge Tarin at Saint-Marcoult where he was assigned to the same unit as Gerald Sorensen and Bernand McManaman, two American airmen who had been shot down over Belgium and who themselves had joined the Secret Army. After the liberation of Belgium, Mr. Vanherreweghen volunteered for the 16th Battalion of Belgian Rifleman which fought with the American Third Army. He saw combat in Germany and participated in the operation to secure the Rhine River Bridge crossing at Remagen.

He was a frequent guest at the U.S. Embassy over the years and our thoughts are with his family. ✨ César, thank you for your service. Know that you and all those who fought and died for our freedom will never be forgotten. ✨
