🚨 Opportunity Alert!

Postdoctoral Position (0.8 FTE): Social Norms of Immigrant Integration

Applications are open for a postdoctoral position within the NWO-funded project “The Normative Integration Regime: How Differential Expectations Shape Immigrant Societies” at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam).

The project led by Dr. Philipp Lutz investigates the informal social norms that Dutch society holds towards immigrants and how these differ from expectations of native citizens, using a survey of 2,500 residents and an embedded survey experiment. The postdoctoral researcher will co-design the study, contribute to survey design and analysis, and have the opportunity to develop their own related research, with co-authorship on project outputs.

The project is seeking candidates with (or close to completing) a PhD in political science, sociology, social psychology, or a related field, strong quantitative and survey-experimental skills, and familiarity with migration research. The position is particularly suitable for someone already based in or near the Netherlands, given the contract length.

📅 Deadline: 15 July 2026
