StreetSmart Youth Work

13/10/2026

Our Mobile School partner Yolia AC supports children and young people in exploring the world around them safely, strengthening their autonomy, and recognizing their own talents and abilities.

Through their work in Mexico City, they create opportunities for children and adolescents to grow in confidence, make informed choices, and build a brighter future. 🇲🇽

En Yolia enfocamos nuestro trabajo en que niñas, niños y adolescentes exploren el mundo en el que habitan de manera segura, aportando herramientas que les permitan fortalecer su autonomía y reconocer sus capacidades. 🌱✨

🇨🇾 This week, our colleagues Rob and Pam came together in Nicosia with colleagues from Vela, I Learn - أنا أتعلم, Salvati Copiii Iasi, and Rescue Now UA for the first meeting of our new Erasmus+ project.

Together, we are developing a toolkit to support youth professionals working with children and young people in emergency and crisis situations. Over the past few days, we shared experiences, refined our ideas, and took the first steps of this exciting journey together.

We're looking forward to taking you behind the scenes over the coming months and sharing more about the tools and methodologies we are developing together.

What a lovely autumn day in Kraków! 🍂

Days like these remind us how powerful a simple, welcoming space can be. It's wonderful to see the Mobile School bringing children together and supporting streetworkers in their daily outreach.

Massive thanks to the team at Fundacja Ukryte Skrzydła for sharing these images from the fantastic work in Poland!

While our new StreetSmart Flagbag was launching in Vietnam, our partnership coordinator for Latin-America, Jessika Martinez was in Cali, Colombia. 🇨🇴

Together with Fundación Samaritanos de la calle she spent the week introducing a basic package of educational flags to street educators and testing them in different neighbourhoods across the city. Following the earthquake that affected Cali and large parts of western and central Colombia, the flags were donated to support educators working with children, youth, families and older adults. What started in the training room quickly moved into the streets, parks and communities, where play, conversation and learning created moments of connection and hope.

A big thank you to the whole team of Samaritanos de la Calle. We're grateful to see these tools now in the hands of educators who will continue using them long after the visit has ended.

A busy week at StreetSmart!

While our work in Colombia continues, we also celebrated the launch of the very first StreetSmart FlagBag in Asia, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. 🇻🇳

Together with the team of Blue Dragon Children's Foundation, we have launched our new Flagbag methodology for the very first time on the Asian continent. Blue Dragon has been doing widely respected and impactful work with children and young people in different parts of Vietnam for over 20 years, and since 2025 has also expanded its presence to Ho Chi Minh City.

We are excited to see how this new initiative will support youth workers and create learning opportunities for young people in Vietnam.

A great start. Looking forward to what comes next!

Our StreetSmart colleague Jessika Martinez is currently in Pereira, Colombia, supporting organisations that work with children and families affected by the devastating earthquake that struck the country in August.

This week, she joined the inspiring team at Malabareando, an organisation that supports children and adolescents experiencing street situations, child labour, and exploitation. Despite being heavily impacted by the earthquake themselves and having to leave their original center, they continue to create safe spaces where children can learn, play, express themselves, and find hope.

Through the StreetSmart emergency educational toolkit - consisting of 12 flags from our StreetSmart Flagbag offer - Jessika is working alongside local educators to strengthen trauma-sensitive support through play, dialogue and creativity.

Learning happens wherever curiosity meets opportunity. 🇮🇳

Proud to see our partner Ek Tara bringing the Mobile School to children across Kolkata, creating spaces where every child can learn, participate and be heard. Together, we're proving that education doesn't need four walls!

Update from our newest Mobile School in Ghana! 🇬🇭

Since its launch at the end of June, the Mobile School has been bringing play and learning opportunities to children in Jamestown several times a week.

Thanks to the dedicated team at Street Children Empowerment Foundation (SCEF), the school is already becoming a familiar and welcoming space in the community. Through games, creative activities, and playful learning, children can explore, connect, and simply enjoy being kids.

A big thank you to the incredible SCEF team for bringing the Mobile School to life in Accra! We look forward to all that's still to come in the months ahead.

🇨🇴 This week, our colleague Jessika Martinez is back in Colombia to support local partners and explore how StreetSmart can contribute to the recovery efforts following the recent earthquake.

Together with two local organisations in Cali and Pereira, we're looking at how our StreetSmart flags can help create safe and engaging learning spaces where children and young people can continue to learn, play and connect.

🇹🇬 Great to see our friends from Vzw dédé, ReadyToGo visiting our local partner Agopode Togo in Lomé and joining a Mobile School session in Zongo.

What started in October 2019 as the very first Mobile School pioneer project in West Africa has grown into a strong and lasting partnership. While vzw Dédé has been supporting this initiative from Belgium for many years, the dedicated team of AGOPODE Togo brings the Mobile School to the streets of Lomé, creating learning opportunities where they are needed most.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this partnership thrive and in creating opportunities for children and young people on the streets in Lomé!
